Where'd all the ads come from?

I just noticed that, not only are there google ads next to the "Join FGRV for FREE" at the top, but there are ads listed at the end of some (but not all) posts in the threads.
Is there a way to turn them all off, or is this what the site needs to do to pay for internet space?
It's a lot of scrolling through the ads. I'd be willing to pay a little to get rid of them. What do others think?

OK, this is weird. They've all disappeared. Have I forgotten to take my meds? Maybe I should go lay down for a bit. <_<

I only see the ads when I am looking through the forum as a guest. If I sign in the ads all go away.

That must be it, Carol! I did have to sign in, and then they all went away. Whew!
