Who has the biggest bed?

Probably the first thing I would change about my 1965 Scamp 16 is the undersized bed. Just 50 inches wide, if memory serves me well. That width, subtracting our own, leaves my wife and I just enough room to spoon all night, turning like twin turkeys on a rotisserie. Even six our eight extra inches would make a big difference.

Lately, I've tried sleeping north-south with my legs supported on a plastic shelf-table placed beside the bed. It works well for me, but my wife knocks her knees and shins on the cabinet edges.

My question is: which FG trailers have the most generous bed dimensions? Is there a list for cross-reference? I'm even wondering of a Scamp's side cabinetry could be repositioned to give a larger bed space at the rear?

I believe the Casita Liberty can be configured into a king size bed as can the newly introduced Happier Camper which has a clever modular design. Little Joe trailers also have large beds. Here is a bed size thread you might find helpful. Raz

The Escape 19 and 5.0 TA both have full queens, at 60" x 80".

As Bob mentioned, the Compact Jr has a very large bed in a small trailer. A 13' trailer with a 72" x 70" bed leaves little room for anything else.

Hard to find, but a Surfside, TM-14, with a front kitchen, has a dinette that converts to a king sized bed.

Yep, that's also a great choice as you can leave the bed made up and have a dinette for 2 at the same time. List members Jon and Gail just sold a beautiful Surfside on Ebay a month or three ago.

Good advice, keep it coming. I'm sure I'm not the only egg owner looking for more sleeping space.

Actually the front kitchen Surfside has no dinette, other then the king sized bed. It does however have a really large closet.

Jon & Gails Surfside did have a dinette, and the bed could be made as full size with the table in place or as a king with the table lowered. I don't know if that was factory or not, but it sure was a neat feature. Here's a link to her post, the eBay link is included in her post, with lots of pics, and is still available.

And that sorts looks like a table in the link in Post 11

I just measured, and my Scamp's bed is 46 inches wide at maximum. Length isn't our problem, unfortunately, but width is.

I believe the Parkliner has a King bed. Our Scamp 13' Delux had a 54" bed..... very BIG difference from our 13' Standard Scamp with the same dimensions as your bed. Dave & Paula

An older 15' Trillium 4500 has a wider bed, 54" I believe. I don't know if there is a version of the 4500 with a bath; all I have seen did not.

All Scamp deluxe (wood interior versions) have a 54" bed.

You can also order a new Scamp 13 standard with a 54" bed (with or with a front bath). That option started 2014, so I have seen one or two come up used. Sadly, it's not available on any of the 16' standards.

Parkliner is queen sized, but it sure seems king! We love ours!

Who has the biggest bed?

Kings are 76 x 80 - and would leave room for little else in most fiberglass trailers, if you even had the room. Our Escape 19 has a full queen and it seems huge to us.

There is a front bath version of both the 4500 and 1300, though the 1300 version is quite rare.

We had a queen on the Escape 19' which was 60 width and now have the 54" width on the Escape 21'. That is 8" more than a 46" so I am sure that many would find it a big improvement over their 46".

We traded some of the bed space for more counter and storage and bath space and now do not have a climb-over bed also. Our 21' is much more open with a bigger aisle and has more room except the bed. We will see what we think about that after a while but it is working okay so far. One big factor about these Escape beds is that they are permanent and there is also a four-person dinette.
