Whose Trailer is Oldest? (was: Planned Obsolescence)

Fellow Eggers : I was watching a video on YouTube...& as I did, it occurred to me that there's one huge reason (among many..) why all of us really love our plastic trailers so very much...& it has to do with "planned obsolescence".

You see, in our world...for businesses to profit more, they have to sell more stuff...and in order to sell more stuff...most manufacturers build their products so that they will "wear out"...because if they didn't, they wouldn't sell as much stuff.

Our trailers obviously run counter to this philosophy...as proven by the fact that there are so many of them that have stood up to the test of time.

With this in mind, a question occurred to me today...& perhaps we should have an online award & a special place in the photo album reserved for the winner...

Who among us has the oldest fiberglass trailer ?

Just curious (and proud !!)

Cheers, P.

Not us, but our first fiberglass (13' Scamp) was a '74. We now have a 2001 model.

'71 Amerigo (I thought it was a '76 till I found the build tag)

On the planned obsolescence topic -
Yes - a Fiberglass camper shell will last into eternity if properly maintained, but without vigilance any wood inside will rot. Stick built campers have more wood and hence rot faster but I've seen many that were taken care of that are as solid as a FG camper.

Cars were once built to die - the nylon timing gear being a prime example - but now they're built to last - and do.

Such a child I was already old when I bought my old 1988 Scamp

I retired the year after we bought our 84 Boler. They were made until 87 or 88 so at 27 it's still a youngster.
Aren't there a couple of flat roofed Bolers in the group?
