Winter holiday: camping style

I can imagine that this might create some overwhelming number of options.

I am looking for suggestions of a nice warm sunny place to camp in the winter. This might be for a week or two as a vacation. I live in a relatively warm dry place in Canadian terms but the gray skies can get to me and we did not get much of a chance to go camping this summer.
Where would you recommend? We prefr state parks, national parks vs. rv parks.

What are the options for renting? Trailers and tow vehicles.How handle for flying in?

We have a light weight tent trailer and looking to go a fiberglass trailer but I am partial to one with bed along the centreline.

I know that I am hesitant to lend my trailer out do people rent their trailers out?

Kiddie Kampers in Tennese: what is that area like in the winter months? Met my criteria?

I think my wife would prefer a cruise or a resort in Mexico help me present a different option.

Not to hijack Kent's thread, but me too! me too! My preference would be for the Texas gulf coast - but I've never been there; what's the weather like in Jan-Feb? Wife is looking at our first warm vacation. She is time-limited by job, but I would like to take some time, drive south, then fly her down for her vacation time. Suggestions, please?

Hi guys...we go south for Jan,Feb & March from "sunny warm "Ontario Usually Florida & the Keys but two years back did Texas gulf coast, Big Bend, Arizona and on to the "left coast".
Plenty warm enough for this snowbird everywhere. Got in to some REALLY windy stuff in Galveston, Goose Island, and Corpus Christi (sometimes a waterfront site is not the best choice )
Big Bend NP is fantastic! Southern Arizona on the Mexican border is very nice. We stayed in State Parks and National Parks and were very impressed with them all.
We are skipping Florida this year and going back to TX & AZ for another three months! Look for the little green Trill...The Road Toad!

Actually, I can kinda feel for what the wife may want. By February, I'm ready to go stir crazy... ready to be warm, dry and pampered... so, I think a cruise would be sweet. No matter how much I love to camp, ya can't compare that to a floating five-star resort. But to-each-his own

Naturally I'd say y'all come on down to Myrtle Beach SC. It's touristy if you like that stuff..., or up-town sophisticated, and small-town country-cosy all rolled into one. Sep - Dec is the "Hidden Season" here. Warm Days, Mild Nights, a LOT less crowded, and winter rates!

We've got beaches, southern plantations, natural wildlife, and modern amusement parks & shopping malls. You can Fish, Hunt, Sunbathe, Dance, Eat, Golf, Shop, or just snooze, all in one day here. You would not beleve the family campgrounds on the beach or the beautiful State Parks too.

For history buffs, you can tour homes that were old before 1776, and follow river trails that the Swampfox Francis Marion used in the revolutionary war. If you like culture, visit Brookgreen Gardens, set on the grounds of a antebellum plantation, it has the largest collection American sculpture on the East Coast, it's across the road from Huntington Beach State Park with the longest stretch of pristine natural beach in South Carolina.

I know I'm spoiled, I live in a place where people work hard for a whole year just to come spend a week at.

You can do that on the Alaska ferries (or at least you used to be able to.) Not with your trailer, though, they won't let you on the car deck. And it isn't warm.

Texas Seashore ! The state of Texas deems their beaches to be highways and you can drive on them and park your travel trailer on them. A few days in cut offs, flip flops and beach combing will make the winter much more bearable.

I have a friend who took his class C moho down to Texas where it was loaded on a flatcar. He and his wife camped on the flatcar while the train trucked on down into Mexico. They had all the comforts (and water) of home, got to camp, and it's sort of like a cruise?

I vote with Donna. Take your wife on the cruise of her dreams, wine her, dine her and enjoy. The net result being you both have a grand holiday and..... she will be a much happier camper (ok, that pun was on purpose) for next year's trailer season.

I'm with Frederick: How about both?

I'd suggest Anza Borrego State Park for a couple of days before motoring into San Diego for a cruise. You could soak up warm, dry sun and get some exercise (hiking) and solitude before cruising the Baja Coast. (I prefer the southern Tamarisk Grove camping ground to the main one. No hookups but quiet and shaded.)

If you (or your lovely Other) prefer a hotel, consider the Palm Springs/Palm Desert/etc. area. It's very nice then, warm but not hot, sunny and dry.
