Winter RV'ing - VA, MD, WV

Hi all - Our Scamp is arriving tomorrow (!) and we're anxious to actually use it before spring. We live in the DC Metro area, which is already pretty cold. Does anyone who's familiar with this region know of good spots for RV camping during the winter months?

We'd be fine with going somewhere in Virginia, Maryland, or West Virginia.

Thanks!
G

We've camped in two parks in the DC metro area. Pohick Bay ( a Norther Virginia Regional Park) was really nice. Deer in our campsite in the morning and evening... even though we were a short drive to the last metro stop on the line. In the park, trails to the waterfront, etc. Nicely sized, fairly private sites, at least in our loop.
We also stayed at Greenbelt National Park in Maryland. Also amazingly quiet and secluded, being a short drive to another metro line (except for the class C above us who ran his generator all thru dinner and happy hour). I saw my first stink horn fungus here... very odd looking.
I would be happy to camp at either park again.
The proximity to the metro line probably doesn't matter to you. We were in town for two separate Solar Decathlons, so it was really helpful to us.

We've camped at Pohick Bay and Bull Run Regional parks and the Prince William Forest National Park. They are all open year round. The regional parks have hook ups (some full, some just E&W); the National Park does not. They all have their unique attractions & I'm sure you will enjoy any of them. And, at this time of year they will be much quieter.
The Virginia State Parks close for camping on the first Monday in December.

There are several KOA's in Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania that remain open year round as well as some state parks. There is also several Passport America cg open, we have camped in W. Va during Super Bowl weekend.

I do my best to support Virginia State parks. But I have a grassed field with power (Free) picnic table W/umbrella & a fire ring plenty of wood. 150 ft up hill from my House, My Cassie is there On wood blocks to protect the tires,& gets used often.
