Animal Shelter
"Hello, yes, we have found a grey tabby kitten, is anyone reporting her missing?"
Where did you find it?
"Under our back porch, a few days ago. We are just wondering if anyone is looking for her, we have her here."
What area of town? Okay, let me look...no, no report.
(What a pretty cat! Such a purr-gal, and those tabby tiger stripes so fine. I'm not in love.)
Vet:
"Yes, hello. We found a half-grown kitten, a grey tabby, is anyone looking for her?"
How old is she?
"About 6 months, I guess. She might be pregnant."
Oh, well, then some people won't really want to find her, you know what I mean?
"That is okay: if she is not missing, we will keep her."
Let me see: dog, dog, black male cat, nope.
"Alright, I'll give you my contact info and a description, they can call."
(Mom, can we name her yet? Is she ours now?)
Like a miniature Lynx, with black tufts of hair pointing her ears and classic natural tabby colours, she is also, apparently, the World's Most Relaxed cat. Hold her upside down and she stretches luxuriously; tease her tummy and she grasps your fingers with claw-in paws and proceeds to give you a good wash.
I'm not in love, oh no.
Not that we can name her yet, and claim her as our own BUT if we could and IF we did, what name?
