You pull into a campground with this:

It was in my campground this weekend. This enterprising Bubba made this rig himself. Quite a good job actually. It's a flatbed, with an 80s Coleman Pop Up strapped on sideways, towed with his big Bubba truck with large Lance camper. The Jeep thingy rides on the flatbed too.

They pulled into the campground yesterday afternoon, unloaded it ALL, popped up the tent trialer, dropped the 4wd and set to camping. The 4wd never left the campground, and the party consisted of.. A man, his wife, a teenage son, and a dog. Thats it!

It started to Hail this morning and they packed it ALL up and left!

Lotta work (and Gas) for that set up!

I didn't have the heart to tell him they make em like this now... He probably did it years ago!

Goodyear and/or Firestone must love these folks...I counted a minimum of 18 tires and spares for all their STUFF....at least four different spares because each rollin' thing has a different size tire/rim.

That wins the award for Most Weird!

We saw a land yacht ("engine pusher?") towing a 13' Boler two summers ago: was it for the dog?

Sure solves that second vehicle parking problem at the campsite.

Maybe this has been posted before, but this might qualify, too:

When I see stuff like that, all I can think is...America is utterly doomed!

When I see that, I think what a blessed country we live in. Then, I thank heaven for diversity. (Otherwise, I'm just like him.)

I didn't get as far as the apocalyptic thoughts - I stopped at "Surely, that trailer has a negative nose weight with that Suzuki back there?".

The family might have been on a circuit to attend a Pop Up Trailer Rendezvous followed by Jeepy Thingy Rendezvous and just might be into potlucks? I would have had to nose my way over to chat them up a bit about all that fun stuff!

This has got to be a record- a reply in a thread that’s been dormant for over 16 years!

I passed a crew cab pickup truck today triple towing a c. 26’ fifth wheel AND a 16’ flatbed carting a large 4-passenger OHV.

Whenever I see any home made rig like this I can pretty quickly tell the quality of the work. If the work is all done with good welds, good paint and properly proportioned components, I never pass up a chance to speak to these folks and compliment their work. I have learned quite a bit from these craftsmen. If you take the magnitude of their project to heart, you’ll never again agonize over having to pack your wheel bearings or change a leaky drain valve in your fresh water tank. I don’t wish for much but I do admire and sometimes wish I had the skills some of these folks have.

I saw a class c towing a helicopter. I guess they were planning on some fairly remote camping.

I went to a Small Trailer Vintage Trailer Trash Rally in August (That's what I call em) held at a state park on KY lake. 450 camp sites strong all filled with Weekend Lake Warriors!

I went to look at the 60 or so small vintage trailers there for the Rally and get new ideas for the future. After my time looking at the trailers and talking to the owners it was time to head home. I did not bring a trailer or camp.

Before I left I took a ride through the campground.

WOW!!!

LOT'S AND LOT'S OF BIG Fifth wheel trailers and other large camper trailers and motorhomes with big awnings, portable gazebo's, 4 wheelers, jet skis/trailer, big screen TV's, multiple vehicles, portable firepits, grills and more all sitting outside their rig for a weekend at the state park/lake.

NO you can't leave all this CRAP there for the next weekend as the campsite rental time is limited .

What amazed me is the amount of TIME, EFFORT AND MONEY all these folks SPENT to haul all that CRAP to the campground for a week/weekend of fun! Talk about a lot of work!

Is it really that much fun to haul all this CRAP up to the state park/lake and then back home just to spend the weekend at the lake???

I don't think so!

Here's Your Sign!!!

...was years ago on US 53 just south of Superior Wisconsin, a dually, towing a fifth wheel, towing a car, towing a travel trailer, towing a boat (I think that was the order). It was parked along the highway in front of a Wisconsin State Patrol squad.
