1973 Amerigo $6000

Completely redone interior and benches.
Has a new axle and wheels.
Has electric brakes.
Completely stripped the camper and rebuilt the inside.
Just took it on a 3 month 15,000 mi. trip and she did great.
There is no toilet. We took it out and decided to add storage instead.

Great job, we'll done. I am in the process of a total rebuild. 1973- 1974. I have removed all interior to the fiberglass. Removed all windows. Next pull out frame, fix cross members and sandblast/Paint. Wish me luck

We were fortunate enough to have our door come with ours. Not really sure? This website seems like the place to be though with so many experienced folks. Best of luck

Never seen one without that front closet/niche/potty room...must feel really spacious in there now!

$6,000 is a really good price; BTW no, never had a wet bath in an amerigo! Orignal from factory didn't even have a toilet, they were all added aftermarket as far as my study of these trailers (And the late Bob Miller's research as well as others) has shown. Hence, one of the weakest points in these was the toilet hole cut aftermarket. With that gone and all repaired and whatnot it is a lot more sound.

The original stove with oven had a serious design flaw--I'm assuming you never used the furnace function? Ours had been disconnected, which was darn good, because they had a way of leaking carbon monoxide, which led to a recall of that stove model back in the day, according to FGRV's Bob Miller, one of our knowledgeable long-timers here.

Looks nice. The added front storage looks good. It could've been an extended sitting bench as well. Lots of possibilities for reconfiguring in these with the wood-built furniture (not molded in already). .

Weight of trailer

They dry weight is 1700 lbs it says online. When we redid the interior we may have added a little weight but I don't think it would be that much.

Yeah we decided to take that out and originally we were going to just make it a bench but decided to add a little more storage as we were travelling for three months around the west coast. Those drawers can be taken out and could be extended for more room for relaxing in the trailer. I think it does feel more open without that closet.
