1973 Trillium 1300

I'm selling my awesome 1973 mint green fiberglass Trillium trailer. It's been very good to me, but I'm going back to school so won't be traveling too much. It is registered in Canada, so will need to be imported. Apparently, this is quite easy as it's considered an antique. Asking $5200.

The good:

All windows have screens and crank open. Wired for 15 amp. Has a catalytic propane heater that warms up the whole place in minutes. The stove was totally rusted out when I bought it, so it was replaced. It has an ice chest that keeps things pretty cold but if I'm gone longer than a weekend and have hookups then I use a plug-in cooler. The foam is pretty new and upholstered. New curtains and new-ish vinyl flooring. I recently re-caulked around the belly band and one of the windows - so far no leaks. I also recently waxed it, so it looks shiny and new

The not-so-good:

One strip of moulding must have come off at some point and a previous owner caulked it up. I'm not sure why as it's pretty unsightly. I do have a new piece of moulding to go up but I don't have the necessary tools to put it up. The ensolite is also coming away from the wall in one corner. I tried using a spray adhesive but I couldn't get it to work. Maybe you'll have more muscles than me? The mdf counters cupboard and closet doors were in pretty bad shape, so I replaced them. However, the saw blade at Home Depot was pretty used up so the cuts weren't pretty. If you have a table saw they're easy to replace.

It's located in Santa Cruz and I'm currently using it until Feb 10, but it is able to be viewed before.

Tow Vehicle, Weight, import

Hi Maxine,

What a cool looking trailer! What is your tow vehicle? Does the trailer have brakes?

Also, do you know any more about the import process?

Thanks,
Hec

Hi Hec,

I tow with a 2013 Toyota Matrix. The trailer doesn't have brakes and when my mechanic checked my car's brakes last year he said they were still at 80.

From what I can remember, you just have to go to a nearby port of entry and fill out a form and then take it to your dmv There's a thread on here somewhere about it.

Maxine

A few observations:
- This trailer appears to be in very good shape. Ensolite issues are kinda the norm.
- It is mostly a bare bones unit. No fridge, or furnace vent means that the road side would look very clean, and have the Trillium logo. This is a bonus as far as I am concerned. A picture of this would be nice.
- Adding a 12VDC compressor fridge would not be a problem.
- Options include DC lights, and the fall restraint from the upper bunk.
- The upper bunk fall restraint is kinda ironic since the gaucho back rest is missing, therefor, no upper bunk. This can be fixed with some plywood, a piano hinge, foam, and fabric. Not a small job, but doable.
- The lens of the 120 VAC light, over the sink is missing. This is more the rule, then the exception. I suspect that people used bulbs that were higher wattage then the fixture was designed for. This melted the plastic. No good source for this.
- There is a manufacture date sticker on the front of the trailer. Maxine, I would love it if you posted a picture of that, then I can add your trailer to the serial number list:

Good luck with the sale! David is an expert on all things Trillium. Potential buyers should heed his advice! A vintage Trillium is pretty desirable IMHO.
