1985 U-haul ct-13 for sale $3,500

We bought this camper to pull behind our camper van and replace tenting for the kids. Most of the original equipment has been removed. It now has a roof mounted heat and A/C unit and a mini fridge..all electrical is 120 volt..All trailer lighting works fine..fiberglass is in good condition..and previous owner also lifted the suspension slightly. We are very fond of the camper and can not wait to see another enjoy it as much as we have.

Hi, Peg S.

VERY good of you to check this out and let us know what you found.

Dampness and a musty smell are NOT good signs.

BEST
Kai

Thank you Kai
I think it's only fair to note the severe dampness as no way would I walk inside this one let alone camp in it. That roof ac is probably the culprit it's very large and heavy. And the owners noted to us as we arrived that it was a fixer upper. Not sure if that was in their original post.

The outside looked fine and frame was good but that smell!!!

Please folks...Musty smells can be removed. Mine had a bad smell when I bought it. The camper was clean. Looked in the lower under seat compartments and saw it had had standing water. Clean cushions, Take out carpet and redo, it isn't much. Most windows leak so fix that problem. Clean and no more smell.

That's very optimistic of you.

You bet, the "musty" smell in our amerigo last October came out all right--once we pulled out every single bit of wet wood and threw it all away!

If someone is "prepared" to go as far as it takes to fix it, then, fine. Maybe they'll get lucky. But things like the foam can only marginally be cleaned from that smell once it gets in (I don't care what anyone says, I don't care how much bleach you use or assertions to the contrary) you are probably going to have to replace all the foam.

We just spent nine months fixing up our "musty" amerigo. We found out WHY it was musty--wood rot. Lots of it.

We tried every solution on FGRV except the pricey Canberra gel--and there was no point in trying that, by the time we reached that stage, we'd discovered all the rot.

Funny thing about the rot--it didn't smell like MOLD. It smelled "odd." It also made my face burn and me cough for three nights after only 15-20 minutes inside the trailer once we'd towed it home. WHY it didn't affect me where we bought it is beyond me. I'm highly allergic--obviously it took a good shaking to break it all loose. The heartbreak to me was yuuuuge. The subsequent work and cost was also difficult.

Look--buy a musty-smelling trailer if you want. It's always up to you. But to optimistically assert that it's no big deal? That's foolishness. Do it to yourself, not someone else.

Buying a trailer that needs windows fixed and carpet removed and cushions cleaned or replaced is fine -- if the buyer is aware of it all and prepared for it. Otherwise--steer clear is my advice from hard, sad experience.

She was good to let us know. Now it's up to others to make their own decisions, of course.

Kai in Seattle, I am so sorry for your misfortune with your camper. That's a lot of hard work and can be no fun. Thank you Peg S for checking it out for the rest of us members here, very kind of you. All campers should be totally checked out by the buyer, it is their choice how to proceed or not. However I am proud to say, I am optimistic, after all it is a U-Haul Ct13.
