1989 Casita 16 $1800

I just got this trailer. It was going to a summer project. I've changed my mind. At 6' tall I'm just too tall for this particular trailer's interior.

The trailer seems solid and is dry inside even though it spent the winter outdoors. I pulled it about 30 miles home. All the lights worked. No problems, but the passenger side lenses are missing. The frame seems solid by visual inspection but really needs someone to scrape and repaint it soon. And, that's about it for the good news. Since I've only owned it for a couple of days I don't know much about it. If the pictures don't answer your questions, ask.

All the cabinet doors are particle board and, at some point, got wet. The plumbing and electrical are in dis-array. The wheels appear to have brakes, but the wires are pulled from the 7-way connector. I didn't test them and won't. If they work for you - bonus!

The front bath was torn out and a wood platform replaced it. It is the size of a small child's mattress and I think that was the intent. There is a bench opposite the sink and stove...it isn't(?) original.

If I haven't talked you out of it - you're probably just the person this trailer needs. If you're still on the fence, ask questions. I'm happy to send more pics.

Any idea of the weight of this thing. I'm looking for something very lightweight.

weight

I don't know the weight. When I was pulling it I could tell it weighs more than my 13' Trillium; so at least hundreds more than 1300 lbs. It may weigh less than a standard 16' Casita because the bathroom has been taken out and the carpet has been peeled of the ceiling, but they added the base for a child size bed in it's place. And painted it gray. And added Patriots stickers.

Does anyone have a suggestion for weighing a trailer in your driveway?

Sean, I drove the truck & scamp to the county landfill & got a combined weight on their scale. Then took the egg home & went back to get a truck weight. They didnít charge for it , tho they were disappointed I wasnít leaving the egg for them to keep!
Good luck!

Check out this thread LINK.

This will give you an idea of what the weight could be loaded for camping. That's weight one should be concerned with.

Sean, appears we are not able to communicate. If possible I would enjoy purchasing your Casita. 1800 for a Casita is far below what people would ask for the camper. Please let me you know if still for sale thank you Mike

Mike,
It is still available, the price is low because it is more a project at this point than a camper. I sent you a PM
