Scamp No Longer Installs Bath Windows?

Question pertaining to SIDE bath, not the front bath. Has Scamp decided against bath windows in both side and front located baths?

Thanks in advance for those in the know who can answer.

I believe Scamp has replaced the bath window with a rooftop bath fan. I am not positive that I am correct so checking with Scamp is the only way to be sure.

I have heard the same. WhY??? I have NO idea. I have the front bath with a window and would NOT want to be without it. It came with a fiberglass "rockshield". My guess is, it's cheaper to put a vent in the bathroom and they still charge the same price! If that's a way to cut costs, it's a poor one.

If you call Micah at Scamp (Kent Eveland's - the owner- son) I'd love to know what he says and IF they would install a window anyway.

My Casita came with a window and a fan in the bath. If you crack the window and turn on the fan it does a good job of removing moisture after a shower. IMHO

The change occurred at the start of the 2015's. Can only speak for the 13s. We weren't happy about the change and weren't notified in advance. Micah did offer to put the window in if we really wanted it. The change was made due to leaks caused by the window.

Brian's information appears to be correct. No more windows. The story is that the fan works "better" and the leak issue is eliminated. IIRC, Casita has gone down the same path.

My specific inquiry was concerning the side room, not the front, but it is likely that the window is no longer put in the side room (bath or storage) as well.

As with most builders of things, Eveland's reserves the right to make product adaptations during the ordering/building time frame. It's fine with me, just wanted to know.

Still only speaking about the 13's , the same small window was used in both the washroom and kitchen so the new 13's have a bigger kitchen window now which is nice. I'm not sure if I have comparison pictures of our 2012 vs 2015.

I believe all Casitas have front washrooms. Our 2013 Casita 17 SD had the fan and a side window which worked best vs just a window vs just a fan.

Yes, Casita didn't have a side room and was mentioned only because it appears they too are only using fans in their front baths. No more windows.

No, that's not correct. Those front windows in the Casitas (One-Eyed Casita) were owners mods. Casita is still putting in a window for the bathroom as standard. See in red.

My thoughts are the leakage occurrs from the inside

I am not familiar with the windows in a bathroom model as I have never had one.

I did however stay at a Holiday Inn Express...and I have taken out a standard window. The windows seal nicely against the "OUTSIDE" of the trailer. The interior trim ring does not have waterproof properties and thus could water penetrate around the inside rim and leak internally into the insulation and ultimately to the floor?

If this was the case, then the window elimination would elevate the problem.

We have the same little tip-out window in our Scamp 13 over the stove. No issues with leaks. Two things are different when the same window is installed on the front. One, the front is a compound curve, which makes fit and sealing a bit trickier. Two, the front is subject to wind-driven rain when towing.

Neither issue applies when it's mounted on the side, so I'm still waiting to hear whether Scamp has also eliminated the window on the side bath version (which was the original question). Did I miss a definitive answer on that?

I'd be surprised if leaks are widespread with the front bathroom window, but even a few raise costs for Scamp and create unhappy customers. It was probably just easier and cheaper to eliminate the window and substitute a vent.

The irony is that one of the first customers to get the vent instead of the window reported that the vent was improperly sealed and leaked.
