So, I just stumbled across a Bigfoot Silver Cloud today for $1000

This is NOT mine.

I talked to the owner extensively last night. Great guy! He just wants somebody to bring this to glory like it used to be. It was his parents. It needs quite the renovation for the non faint of heart, but I feel well worth it when done. He is not into nor realizes the fiberglass rv following. Explaining to me the special roof that doesnt need replaced (fiberglass). SUPER nice guy!!

He wants $1k asking price. Said it needs to go before it gets worse. I think what changed my mind from buying it is the exterior renovation, and possibly floor replacement (he says its solid, but it has had leaks in A/C and also ran a tank of water out onto bathroom floor then water pump burned up. So Im guessing the restoration would include floor areas.

I dont have a garage to do this in, or I would do it!! I would buy it and tear down to the shell and redo the entire thing. But without the place to do it, I cant just do that outside in the rain when pulling out a/c, vents, windows, etc - it needs to be done in a garage.

Here are pics. Please whoever buys this keep us posted of this beautiful restoration!!!

Not correct.

Its 92,065.00 !

I guess 92k was not enough and he wants another sixty-five dollars?

Something is not right.

Yeah, I rounded it off to an even 92K. Maybe someone told him the real value. Or is that real value. Apparently the Silver Clouds are rare, but I have no idea of what they are really worth.

Yea, im not sure why that says that. I was going to ask him, but instead I approached it like "so what do you think you need for the RV"?. That's when he said $1000 was what he would like to have, but is much more concerned about having a buyer restore it than getting his full $1000. So I didn't mention the price in the ad after that conversation. It has to be a typo. Zip code maybe?

edit: YEP - I just looked up 92065 and its the zip code for where he is, Ramona CA. Its just a typo on his part.

He was a great super nice guy - nothing fishy. Talked to him for 20-30 minutes or so.

A couple years back I wanted a Silver Cloud and passed up on it. I wasnt ready yet in my mind. I still love them!! If I ever found an "always garaged, never leaked" one I would jump in a second now!

..
OIC thanks for the clarification. The ad also says, "The system requires me to put in a selling price so the price you see is what I think it's worth but will let it go to the best offer."

I'm sure if anyone who can handle this project has seen your post, he or she is not taking time to reply here but instead headed out to Ramona with cash in hand.

Wow, I'm pretty close to the San Diego area and would love another Bigfoot restoration project, but have no room to do it now. Hope this unit finds a good home.

For $1000 I would snatch it up garage or no garage. I could always get an extra large tarp from Harbor Freight to cover any opening while I resealed windows, vents, etc. Most everything else could be done inside for the most part unless you were planning on taking it to the frame. Wish it was close to me I would buy it myself. Would love to have a 25 Silvercloud.

Wow! That is quite a find. If we hadn't just bought our Bigfoot fifth wheel, I'd be very interested.

Hey guys - correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't this thing need major gel coat redo? Is the pics on the front especially show missing gel coat? I'm not fiberglass expert so Id love to hear opinions!

The ad on the Bigfoot Owners Club site says the Gel coat needs to be resealed. That stuff you see peeling is probably the layer of acrylic sealer that was applied peeling off. You're supposed to strip and then re-apply that stuff periodically if you use it. I'm not an expert so I could be wrong, but that's what it looks like to me.

Well after my brief overwhelming moment I came back reality. I contacted him again and am now working with him to purchase. I think I'm just going to do sight unseen and pay to have it shipped here. It's a risk yes. But why double the cost with flights, drives, time off work, etc. Fingers crossed this goes thru ok and wish us luck!
