2009 25B21FB crushed by tree

My Bigfoot trailer was crushed by a Doug fir that snapped off in a wind storm. The tree took the back end of the trailer off, the door was ripped off the trailer along with the awning. It also bent the rear axle.

ouch, was it at home or camping? Was anyone hurt.
Hope you have insurance and that it will cover the replacement or repair. I wonder if Bigfoot would be able to repair it.

I am so sorry to hear about this... looks like a beautiful trailer, too. With the others I hope you can get back in business soon.

Thank god no one was hurt. I was in my barn when it happened. The tree grazed the side of my barn but took the back off the trailer.
We have had the trailer for just a short time. I had spent a year trying to find one and we really never got a chance to use it.
The insurance company called it a complete loss. We were more than fairly compensated.
This happened back in November when we were hit by a severe rain/wind storm. We were lucky but things did work out. Just a couple weeks ago we were able to buy a 2005 25B25RQ in great condition, so all is well in the end.

And a good reason to have insurance year round instead of seasonal as some do.

Wow. I'll try not to let that make me more paranoid...I camp under and around trees a lot, and though I'm conscious of what can happen, and stay away from "leaners" and other obvious hazards, I always tell myself things like "it's ok, people have camped under this tree for decades and it's never fallen on them"...

Glad to hear no one was in it, and that you found another. That wind storm was just telling you, in its way, that it didn't think the trailer was up to snuff. Hopefully it approves of this new one

Medic STAT!
The Down side of Storms in the Great North West. Oregon and WA get slammed with hurricane force winds pretty often. Dangerously beautiful country we live in..

My first trailer, an Airstream Argosy Minuet was destroyed in a similar fashion. The top half of a 60 foot high pine tree twisted off in a wind storm and came down directly on the trailer. No one was in it at the time, no injuries, totally destroyed the trailer. Insurance covered it, but I still miss that trailer!

We are very careful about setting up under pine trees now, and I have to admit, if there were a serious windstorm, and I was camping under tall trees, I would move the trailer to an open area.

If you don't mind my asking, which insurance company do you have your trailer with? Seems like a good one.

The insurance company had it picked up. They sent it to Oregon to a salvage auction.
We have Safeco insurance and I have to say it was painless. What ever they used to come up with the replacement value was more than we paid for the trailer.
We will be taking our new 25 to the Washington coast for the week and put it thru its paces.
