A&E Trimline Awning

Hi there!

We are looking at purchasing the A&E Trimline Awning, and I wanted to see if anyone had any opinions about the quality and functionality of this awning before we make the buy. So who's got this model and how do you like it?

We had one on our LoveBug , it was easy to install , easy to deploy and well made.
One odd thing though...
When at rest, the bag laid flat as expected, when we reached highway speed it always flipped upward...... while this was harmless , and could easily be avoided with a couple of snaps, I thought it was kinda neat.

I have my eye on one that seems to be a good price ( $175 shipped for a 7' ) I would like to install on our 13' Scamp. I am guessing that 7' is adequate enough, I have seen posts about others installing the 8' on their 13' eggs ( I found one for $205 shipped), but I don't know if I want to pass up a good price over 12" of shade...

Does anyone else have an opinion? I have a couple of more days to make a decision.

Ours was a 7 footer also , I think you will find it a better fit due to the curvature of the Scamp roof .
The 7 footer will mount straighter and deploy easier.

I have the Shademaker awning which is similar to the Trimline and which I have used for 6 weeks of camping so far. A few things I have discovered.

First, I had to put some lithium grease on the upright latches after we had done some desert like camping - the sand binds up in the catch and the poles won't release.

Second, make sure the door is closed before dismantling or else you may bend the awning support pole. I have done it twice and the bend in the alumnium bar is a pain to take out.

Otherwise, best accessory I have added to the trailer.

We got the A&E awning today!! It assembled easy, and now we just need to install the awning rail on the trailer. I was afraid to install it first, before we knew exactly how long and wide the awning was going to be. I can't wait to get'er done and test it out!! Now, if it would only stop raining....

My wife is 5' 3" and found it easy to retract....she had me do it!
Seriously it is a bit of a pain if you can't reach it comfortably.
If you can afford it ,buy an A&E Horizon, they are made for short old ladies.

They simply roll out, then when your done,
they roll back in the pouch,and you zip it up.

It easier with 2 people, but 1 person can easily do it.
Maybe ask any trailer sales/parts dealer to demonstrate 1 for you,??

When I picked up my new Scamp this spring, the guy showing me how everything worked made it look so easy.

I just got around to trying it myself and had one heck of a time. Out & In.

I finally resorted to reading the manual.
I am 5'10" with long arms and find it hard to do.

I have one on my 13' Scamp. IMO, the only way to go. Easy to set up, easy to put away. Simply cant go wrong with one. Wouldn't go any other way. Not only does the Bag Awning look really good, it works very well. There is no rain water running down the side of your trailer.
