Any suggestions for rain noise.

Was in Edmonton and my site was under a tree. Whenever the wind shook the tree it sounded like rocks being thrown on top of my Boler. What can I do about this? (other than not camp under a tree in the rain!

Now that you know what the noise and where it's coming from, relax and feel snug and warm in your water proof trailer.

Not camp under a tree in the rain?

I consider that the perfect place to camp, rain or not!

I love the sound of rain on the roof!

For other noise I've found that white noise can help, perhaps try running a fan. There are white noise machines, too. They can play various sounds like waves, wind, heartbeats, etc. Or you could play quiet, soothing music like instrumentals, New Age, Classical.

FWIW, we had a pickup camper years ago and one night after going to bed, and not yet asleep, we heard it start to rain. My wife & I decided it would be neat to hear that on the camper roof so we went out to the camper and went to bed there. We enjoy the sound of rain on the roof.

I, too, love the peaceful rain but this sounded like large rocks dropping sporadically all night long - enough to wake you!

Another idea: put a portable canopy over the camper. Make sure the canvas does not touch the camper roof.

The first time we heard rain in our RV it was intrusive. Now when we're home I dislike not hearing it when it rains. SOmehow it feels good to be in touch with nature.

We used to live in a Geodesic Dome in surrounded by many acres. AT night you heard just the 'woods' and could not see your hand in front of your face. We eventually moved in to a house in the center of town. The first morning I heard the paper boy crunching the snow as he walked up the driveway. I guess your brain becomes sensitive to different sounds but eventually ignores them when they become common.

I understand what Margie is going through. Just came back from the Oregon Gathering and the first little bit when it started raining it sounded like giant pinecones were hitting the roof. Knowing what it was and also knowing it wasn't hurting anything made it easy to go to sleep. Other than earplugs or burying my head in a pillow, there was few options. Rain is much better than listening to July 4th fireworks!!!!
