Anybody ever looked at the bottom of their door?

We just picked up our new Parkliner (2016 model) and we noticed at the bottom of the exterior door the two sides of the door do not meet and there is a 1/2 inch opening running all along the bottom of the door.

Our friend that bought his Parkliner in 2012 said his door is sealed, no crack. Tom at Parkliner said that the production guys told him this is the correct design but I am having a hard time believing this, but hoping to confirm with this group that this is within the realm of good design and not a mistake that needs correcting.

Anybody ever looked at the bottom of their door?

Beth

The photo shows on my iPhone and my Mac desktop using the website version.
It also shows up using the Fiberglassrv app I just installed a minute ago on my phone.
I don't know why it isn't showing up for anyone else.

I've seen the pic twice, including your first post.
And, I think your door is weird. Certainly doesn't look finished.

Picture is fine. Did they give any indication why there is a gap? Perhaps something they added since 2012 to allow moisture to escape?

Handy for mud daubers and bees, hornets, wasps to nest.

The picture shows fine, but I am not sure what I am looking at. Is it right side up? I don't know the Parkliner, and that makes it harder to figure it out, I am sure.

OK that's a little better .I guess you need to find some Parkliner guys and gals that can help you out . I've owned the Lil Snoozy and now an Escape trailer .Maybe the factory can tell you why you have this GAP of 1/2 in in the bottom of the door ?

I have flat rv doors like Casita ,Lil snoozy, and now Escape trailers so no GAP .Sorry I can't help .

Good Luck and let us know what you find JIM

Sorry, i know the original pic IS a weird looking.

The grey material is my sweater as I crouch down beside the open door. My phone is on the ground shooting up toward the bottom of the door.

The issue is with the underside of the exterior door. The part of the door that is closet to the ground. There is a gap running the length of the bottom of the door. I would assume the front and back of the exterior door should meet and seal all the way around.

I am wondering if anyone else in the Fiberglass community has a gap like this at the bottom of their door.

I am attaching a pic of our camper if that helps.

I can post some more pics of the underside of the door in the morning when its light out.

My understanding is Escape puts drainage holes in their camper. Anyone report problems with mud daubers and bees, hornets, or wasps nests?

Wow, all this overnight activity! Thanks, Beth, for clarifying what we are looking at.

My take is this: they leave the gap along the bottom edge so that any water that might get in past the window seal will drain freely. Any small amount of splash from driving on wet roads will also dry up quickly and will not cause problems. We have seen a few examples on this forum of the curved doors of Scamp and others suffering internal rot of the wood core. Raz mentioned drain holes in the Escape trailer, here is a drain slot. If you see wasps flying around that bottom edge, chase them away with a little bit of spray. I would leave it the way it is, rather than trying to seal it.

Door gaps

Yes, our new ParkLiner also had some gap at the bottom, and also up the latch side. Poor workmanship.
I was able to rework ours for a tighter seal.
You should get it fixed, and send the bill to Parkliner.
