This may be old news but these people make a small awning for VW vans and the like and it looks like it might just be a heck of a good idea for eggs

Thank you for finding that one again. I remember that in an old thread discussing how it would be perfect for Hunter Compact (Jr. & II) trailers that have the door in the back over the bumper.

No, I've emailed for prices - but they will be Canadian prices.

Yes, please post prices. Would be a perfect awning for the Compact.

those are very nice.. my neighbor has one but dont think its made by the same manufacture.... you have to be sure the base is secured.. like any awning the wind will blow it over....

That reminds me of the one that hung off the receiver hitch.

Donna,

Look at the one for the VW Van. It's different and looks terrific.

I saw one similar, or perhaps the same, at both Home Depot and Fred Meyers. They were 9 feet in diameter, tip to tip and I recall a price not much over $100. I think it was summer before last that they were displayed.

I didn't buy one then because a simple 4-pole canopy I have still has a couple of years life left. But I have it in the back of my hear to check out the umbrella idea when there is another need.

I emailed Country Homes Campers for the price of the Shade Boy RV awning. Their reply said $272, plus $39 shipping & handling. They come in burgundy, dark blue, light blue, and silver. Silver costs an extra $12. Don't know if there are any other US distributors. Tom Trostel

Sharon, I really like that one. One could tie it down, if necessary to back bumper and tongue.

Tom, I think this would even work on your Compact.

The attractive looking, anodized aluminum housing is only 50 inches long, but the fabric is about 10 feet wide and projects out 6 feet. There are no moving parts. Solid fiberglass rods, which are inserted at each side, extend beyond the awning case and hold up the fabric under tension. Supplied string tie-downs can be attached at the outside corners to stabilize the fabric in windy conditions.

I would be worried that a wind would wreck the umbrella. It does not look real sturdy to me.

I like these umbrellas, but I REALLY liked the awning that someone had made...it was posted a couple of weeks back....the one where the legs went into metal flag pole holders. Does anyone know who that was? If it's YOU, could you PLEASE repost the information I promise this time to print out the information

I think that one was on a Lovebug... ? Cost was about $30. & was homemade. I tried to save pics, but can't open the files.

We have a shadboyandlove it, now that we've got it reinforced. The problem we had was that when the wind blew the awing DOWN, it pulled the screws out, holding the awning to the trailer side. Now, we attach it at the corners to a couple of telescoping aluminum poles, so the wind can't blow it up or down.
