So does anyone with a compact have an awning? I am looking for a way to attach one but don't really see any where to hook one. So I am assuming if u want an awning you have to make and attach one yourself. So what have you done/ I would live to see some pics as inspiration

Chuck h has a very cool awning he made for his Compact II.

something on this order? Just a simple one I had made. Has grommets that I put in: in the corners and in the middle. I put hooks in -each side and then one in the top (used Stainless washers and butyl tape/caulk to seal 'cause I drilled thru the walls) Also put in grommets that would align if the awning was installed without putting the poptop. There is awning channel; like the letter 'C' with an attach leg. You sew light cord into the edge of your material and this slips into the channel.

Here are some pictures of the awning that my wife and I made out of 2 blue tarps. I connected it to the trailer using hooks I put in the lip of the roof. We have used it for 2 years with no problems and have kept us cooler in hot weather and dry in rain.

I have always liked this one that I have seen on Karen K's Companion.

http://www.busdepot.com/details/awning.jsp

It is lightweight, easy to set up and can attach in a variety of ways.

Looks good too.

Tinia, here are the pictures of the hooks attached to the lip of the roof. I hope this helps. The awning only took a couple of hours to make. If you need more info please let me know

I rounded the door corner so it could not damage the tarp, if the tarp came in contact with the door

I use 5 poles to hold up the tarp. The only thing I would do different is make the tarp over the back door about 7' out from the trailer.

Let me know how you do

Hi Tania,
I just posted an awning FOR SALE in the "Miscellaneous" section. What is the length from front to back? My awning is 9'2" x 10' . This may work for you! Let me know.
THanks,
