Front dinette
Posted by Noel M. Lutsey, Member, Minnesota - Arizona:
Front dinette
If you do a search on the Casita,Boler, Scamp owners web sites as well as this site you will eventually find examples of how to convert your front couch/bunks into a front dinette with storage for the porta potty Here are some examples none of which are mine. My wife wants to convert our back bed/dinette into a guacho/settee area (she has already drawn up the plans so it may happen)

Mary, pretty much nailed it.
16 ft Casita is 48'' and the 17 is 54'' (except for the Liberty that does make into a king bed).
When I got a feather bed for mine, I bought a double. Even though it was 48'', it fit perfectly. With the added height of the feather bed and the high loft mattress pad, regular double sheets fit perfectly on the 48 In bed.

You have scared me...
"Double" is another name for "full", right?
I just washed a new set of "full" for my 16'Casita and have yet to make the bed.
That was an experience in buying for me. I never knew there were so many variables to consider just to make a bed.

Beds in RVs are generally (not always) much smaller than the equivalent "size" in our homes. If you haven't already found it, peruse this topic on Bed sizes, as it gives true dimensions of beds in lots of different molded fiberglass RV trailers.

Actually, double is a misnomer. It is a bit smaller than full.

Huh, I always thought "double" and "full" were the same size (in houses 54" x 75"). Then the smaller size (more old fashioned in houses) was a "three-quarter" bed (48" x 75").
Sounds like I may have had it wrong... It does seem like most of the 13-foot trailers have the "3/4" size.

My compact II (had) a 58x72 bed. That is appx queen size. I wanted more in my bedroll so I enlarged it into a 72x80 king size.

My Campster had a bed that was 72 x 72, at least.. maybe 72x76. I turned it sideways to make a 3/4 bed (48 x 72) which allows easier access to the bed and a place to sit down even when the bed is made up.

Wikipedia Entry: see bed size definitions in section 2
"[b]Three Quarter
48 × 75 in (1.22 × 1.90 m) often (47-48) X 72 in. sizing varies.
This size is considered obsolete by the major manufacturers."
These bed size discussions make me think of

We have an antique four-poster three-quarter bed at my house, but it actually fits a full mattress pretty well provided you use a squishy foam mattress. So I stole its three-quarter mattress for my trailer. (New mattress that I had made, not the antique original!)

Bed size in the EggCamper is 53x75, but it has an extra 6" at the head and foot (we fill the extra space with pillows. We added a feather mattress and it is more comfortable than our bed at home.
