Look close at the picture I put up. In front of my homemade step is a doormat made from rope. We bought it in Maine, it's made from used lobster fisherman's rope. The story being that a new law required that the fishermen stop using a particular type of rope, their original rope floated and the new type does not (or vice versa) so they could trade in their used rope for credit towards the correct type. Someone got the idea to make doormats from the old rope, and a brand new item for the tourists was born.

Been using our mat for many years, including leaving it for 3 months each summer in one spot at our camp----never has it killed the grass beneath it. And we've also never been to a campground that has had any kind of rule against them being on the grass.

But....there's a first time for everything!!

For my little Scamper Doodle, I bought one of those Mad Mats from Amazon. Made of recycled plastic, as from that which keeps a 6 pack of beer together. Works fantastic and just the right size for my little baby. In wind, I grab a few larger stones from the lake to keep it down. Dries out and shakes perfectly clean. No stinky smells either! The multi colored browns match my Scamp interior nicely, as well as my bag awning.
