Boler "Porch Light"

Our old Boler has no outside dome light near the door as some later models do. Are these all 12 volt or are they available in 120 volts? I need 120 as I don`t have a battery hook up and don`t want to leave the trailer plugged into tow vehicle to operate this light.

Why not get one of those battery operated, motion detecting LED puck lights at Canadian Tire, or Home Depot, or Home Hardware?

You'll have to run a thicker wire if you're going to run a household hundred twenty volt porch light. The little 12-volt wire will never handle it.

The idea of having something with batteries in it sounds like a good one. With today's LED lighting I bet you can find one and then you won't have to drill anything. Or better yet maybe one with a little solar panel built into it that will recharge itself like those walkway lights do. I bet you can find something like that if you look around.

Just be sure your solar porch light has a switch to control it. Many of the solar options for outdoor lights don't have that. They tend to be on all night until the battery gets depleted. Not polite to shine a light into your neighbors windows after bedtime.

Try this or another offering from Lee Valley Tools. I searched CT and Home Hardware, but nothing turns up except Christmas products.

Ron, thinking back on over 30 years of RVing, other than checking once in a while that the porch light still worked on any rig I had. I've never turned one on even once for night time lighting. Kind of funny because I boondock 99.99% of the time and I've never missed finding the RV or the door. But every one camps a bit different, YMMV .

Porch light

Well, you folks have me thinking. In will search and eventually find something. I would have to use a converter to power up the 12 volt light if I chose that route. I am sure something will develop! Thanks!

Check out Mr Beams.
I use one of these on the patio aimed at my BBQ.
Huge selection of lights.

100% cute light but with one tiny drawback:

It says it easily mounts anywhere INDOORS.

So it wouldn't survive outside the trailer. But if you wanted one that
turned on automatically INSIDE, this could be perfect. I really like the looks of it and for under $20? A good deal!
