I submitted this thread a while ago but didn't have any luck.......anyone out there concocted anything that might work to protect my front window?

I asked about the same question, not too long ago ---- I was told that Scamp makes a rock guard /window cover that might fit our Burro's. Additionally, you can get a Burro logo made for it at a sign shop......
Hope this helps!

I used a material that sign shops use .it is a composit sandwiched with aluminum it is light weight and easily bendable can be easily cut with a grinding wheel or saw I'll you can sand the edge smooth or put a 1/4 inch trim lock around it

Great idea. Do you have a link to it - maybe at Carr McMaster?

One such product is called 'Alucobond'. Google the word & you'll find more info than you probably want. It is a 'polystyrene' material (of different thickness depending on use desired) with a layer of (usually) 0.02" aluminum on each side. As Mikmay said, probably a sign shop would be a good source for a piece small enough for your purpose...

I have a Burro and have been thinking of this also. I can build the screen. I am thinking of using a corrugated plastic panel that is primarily used for greenhouses. My question is where can you find good mounting hardware for the panel?
As a side note, my wife can make the Burro decals.

Why not use some lexan?
Light, unbreakable and can be cut with regular saw.
You can get some in different colors or seebthru with tint.

Right. I haven't priced local places, but it is nice to have a comparison to see whether the price is reasonable.
I know that I've had home window glass replaced by a local glass shop and the prices made my eyes water.

My dad made mine using stock metal stuff from Home Depot, welding it together, and then screwing into that frame the leftover Lexan that we had from trying to rebuild windows. Gas struts to hold it open, and little L shaped brackets to keep it closed.
Also, I MIGHT have my original (exceptionally ugly) rock guard back in Pittsburgh with my original windows. I can't really check till the next time I'm back there, though.

I used...thrown-away bathroom wall as cover. With old aluminum frame of old Trillium rock-guard window and reinforced steel grid, it finally came up as photos and I am happy with it. Cost is....ZERO DOLLARS and 2 hours of labour...

Did you find the lifters easy to install? Also, I don't have old frame..nothing there when I bought unit. Thanks for good info!

I didn't order any, but I think that Lexan would be a good choice if you can make your own frame. You will need to measure your front window and see what makes sense. I linked the 2x4 foot piece as it seems likely to be the closest to a typical front window size.

...Piece of cake. It is easy to install and easy to maintain. I put grease in it and it is smooth like....butter. In the first photo of mine, do not mistake the 30Amp black wiring I connected to garage, across the Trillium front window as ...lift gates or some kinds of reinforced brackets...About the frame, I do not know about...you or somebody.else but I could make it from house aluminum window frame with some basic tools...Try it if you...have time and....love the work...
