Are the Burros still being made? I love the idea of the double-wall fiberglass so you don't have to deal with the insulation and I'd seriously consider getting rid of our Lil' Bigfoot for a Burro if they are!

Holly: You're right about the double-hull design; the interior stays clean and bright! Burro and UHaul are the only significant makers of true double-hull FGRVs, and - unfortunately - both are out of business. On the bright side, Burros and UHauls are remarkably sturdy, and well worth acquiring if you can catch the occasional sale on eBay.

If Burro is out of business (since when?), I'm wondering why their website is still working?

Steve, since 99.

The site probably only remains up because thier hosting company has been too lazy to clear it out, Or they paid for a lifetime supply of space and domain name. It is aslo possible they have some longshot hope of coming back.

I hve been by thier old address, it's a landscaping company now.

If you look closely at the web site you'll see it's now an advertisement for Direct NIC.

Now that I have gone through my 82' Burro and spent way too much money and time I would consider rebuilding another only if I owned a new Casita to use while I spent a few years on the project. But this time I know what to look for so I would not have such a hideous amount of work and expense. The basic trailers even in poorer condition seem to be no longer cheap so it's kind of a toss up in regards to reliability and resale. Of course this is only a common sense approach and most of us do not care much about common sense when we are infatuated with an oldie but goodie.

1. Floor rot.

2, Body/door/fiberglass integrity.

3. Frame condition.

4. Axel condition.

The rest is the easy part of the job.

All, thanks for the old news on Burros. Their website fooled me.

Being new to "eggs" I had thoughts of either a 14' Burro or a 14' kit, but now I've got a shorter new list. Besides Casita and Scamp who is still producing "eggs" in the lower 48?

Actually, the listed owner (Jonathan MacArthur) renewed the domain name for one additional year (January 17th, 2007) right around the 29th of December. Granted it doesn't cost much to do this but he\they still made the effort to keep it going for a while longer yet.

so maybe Burro will make a comeback.

I'm still searching information about small FG travel trailers and "eggs" seem to fit my needs. I've spent hours on this site looking for information/knowledge and it's there. Wow.

Thanks again to all who've posted in the past and on this thread.

Donna D,

Any idea what the 'Little Joe' sells for? The trailer dealer has no real information listed on their site.

IF you go to the dealer web site - you will note very few options - and of course NO PRICE confuse.gif

"IF" I recall though the base price was $7495 - the sales person, wasn't exactly "friendly" and had to look everything up (which seemed like a chore) - so between his "attitude" and what I felt isn't a very good value, I dropped the idea on this one.

Sorry Gary, I just provided the information from the FiberglassRV sources. See Fredericks post above this one.
