I do things in a different order

Different order with a WDH. Before I drop the stabilizer jacks, put on the jack wheel and crank the front of the trailer up. This raises the tow vehicle up and takes the tension off of the spring bars. Then it is very easy to take them off with no tension. After they have been removed crank the jack back down, chock, and disconnect. Other wise my order of doing things is about the same as yours.

And when it's time to leave I hitch up the trailer to the tow vehicle, crank the jack up to raise the tow vehicle. This ensures that it is hitched properly and it easy to install the spring bars with out a tool.

Checklist

:wave

Hello! I am a newbie - not only to the forum, but also to RVing.
I have been living in my RV fulltime since last September and working at an RV park. It's been a great experience. Great people and getting a bit of an education about RVing before I hit the road.

One thing I don't have is a checklist, so thanks a bunch for posting the checklists here. I am leaving on my first trip either Thursday or Friday, so a checklist was much needed!

Hi, llanago. Glad you found us and that some of the info here is, at least, useful to you! If you get a chance before your trip, click on My Home and fill in your profile info-mation. Or, do it as soon as you get back! We'll be happy to get your (1st) trip report... what kind of trailer do you have, etc.?

Full-timing in an RV park! Wow, that's one way to learn how to manage all of the RV systems!

Checklist/1st Trip

:wave

Hi Mary,

The checklists are great. Already have done the copy and paste. Will definitely use them.

I have a 1997 36' Carriage Lite series 5th wheel. My second 5th in less than a year. I started out in a 23' Mallard 5th. Neat little trailer but not so good for living fulltime.

I lost my home last 3rd of July to the flooding here in the Hill Country. Decided rather than rebuild, I would just buy an RV and go see the USA in it. I love to travel but have never been able to spend as much time as I wanted in some of my favorite places before. Now I will be able to stay as long as I want.

I love all the RVing forums! I started checking them out before I even got the first RV. What a wealth of information. Then I was just in the right place at the right time when I got my job at the RV park. Learned alot being here and met some great folks, but now I am really ready to do some traveling.
