OK, I will add to the general chorus. Today, after almost two years of watching this thread, I finally got around to cleaning the trailer. We donít have a cute name for it yet, but maybe some day. I used the instructions earlier in this thread, which worked very well. I cleaned it using Barkeeperís Friend (liquid) and an auto shampooing brush, which worked very well. Then 4 coats of Zep #3, including the roof. After I was done, I did one coat on the tire cover and the visible portion of the frame, just to shine it up a bit. I still have enough in the jug to do several more trailers. I am very happy with the results. In the pictures attached, the sun had moved quite a lot during the day, but you can get the idea.

I also did the front window cover with all 4 coats. I am hoping that it will make it easier to get the bugs off after each trip.

I remember that one. The before picture was not as varyingly yellow as it appears, it was a trick of the sun and the camera (I think). The trailer was always a steady cream colour, just very dull. The cleaning helped and the polishing made it look ... well ... polished. The colour of the driveway bricks is much more accurate in the after picture.

Seems we all need sunglasses. Looks Great. I am impressed with the idea of Red Max. I just bought Gel Gloss...hard work...Red Max seems easier.

trailer envy

Hi Rick
Your trailer looks amazing.
We have the same Trillium and desperately want it to look like as good as your's . (watching this topic for a loooong time)

See that you are located in Alberta and have used Bar Keepers Friend as the cleaner. Called Home Depot here in Halifax and "No they don't have BKF and have never carried it" In fact, no one seems to carry it here.

So my BIG question is....where did you (in Canada ) buy your BKF??

We can get Rex Max but really need a good cleaner first....and one that is not very toxic as I am very sensitive. (elbow grease ok but second choice)

Thanks for any help/advice
Donna

Bar Keeper's Friend is just a mild abrasive with oxalic acid in it to dissolve rust. I'm sure there is an equivalent product sold near you for maintaining sinks.

Try a Home Hardware store. My local one carries both the powder and the liquid forms. (of course I discovered this only after looking high and low, and finally bought some on a trip to the US. Doh!)

great idea

Thank you very much Will

We have very few Home Hardware Stores in this area (Halifax) but I did call one some distance away and YES....they do carry BKF!!!!

Because they (HH) are so inconvenient to get to, I rarely think of them.
I will more so in the future!

Happy Donna
