Smile Clean dead paint off our Scamp

We used all different chemicals to wash our 2007 Scamp but it is still dull and almost impossible for wax to stick. The top and top of sides were very hard to get wax off. We were trying to avoid buffing. We were told by another camper that he heard of a floor cleaner on this website to use on outside of our fiberglass scamp. Anyone out there no anything about this?

UM?
You are talking about a 5 year old trailer. Pictures would help. It should not be that bad after 5 years. Makes me wonder what a previous owner may have done.

Hi Stacy, welcome to FiberglasRV, we're glad you're here.

Unless you know something I don't, your 2008 Scamp doesn't have paint on the outside ... it's more than likely gelcoat that's chalky. Your trailer will need to be super, super clean before using the Red Max Pro (ZEP) or all the dirt you didn't get off will be sealed underneath.

Gezzz not a chance I would be putting floor wax on a 07 Scamp!
You really only need to spend a bit of time removing the caulkness with a marine product such as 3M rstore and wax which is designed to do it and then give it a good wax after. And then wax once a year to prevent it from happening again.

Gosh, I would... and I've seen plenty of five year old trailers that need quite a bit of help. But, then again.. it may be about the OPs expectations...

Clean dead paint off our Scamp

I once read a post where someone got Red Max Pro off by taking it to a coin operated car wash and using the "engine clean" selection, let it sit for a few minutes, and rinsed it all off. This might work for your problem areas.
