Cleaning fiberglass

I have some dark drip marks around my windows... the bulk of it came off with elbow grease, but wondering what people use to take them off... dont want it to build up over time.

3M Marine clean and wax or if there really bad (not much wax on the trailer to start with) the 3M Restore and Wax - keep a small bottle in the trailer and a micro cloth to deal with the marks and bad bug stains. Works like a charm - best $14 spent as little elbow grease needed. One bottle can do the whole trailer more than once.

I wash and apply 2 coats of wax to my Scamp each Spring (1 coat Meguiar's Ultimate synthetic wax followed by 1 coat carnauba wax).When I get black streaks usually after a rain they are easily removed by washing the streaked area and apply a coat of wax and buffing the area. I try to wax my trailer once a month in the summer it makes streaks and bugs much easier to remove plus it gives me something to do

Bleach and water mix, spray, wait, wash with clear water, bleach/water again, wait, wash with a wash and wax car soap and the camper shines.

I also had the black streak problem on my Casita until I cleaned it up and applied Red Max Pro 3. When I washed it this spring there were some light gray streaks that cleaned off when I washed the trailer using soap and water.

Yeah I was told to not use the floor wax since my gelcoat is still new (My ParkLiner is a 2012) I have been useing a fiberglass wash and wax 1 step application. Maybe I should use a real wax on it, but honestly I get over a month of it still being shiny, just get the darker marks around the windows and such. Havent gotten a chance to get over to the store to buy the 3m cleaner. Funny I wash my ParkLiner but havent ever washed my Rav4 lol.

Yes deryk, a good wax should be used. Cleaning a waxed surface is certainly a LOT easier than a non-waxed surface. Bugs come off easier on the front too

Heh yeah I have been hosing off the bugs lol...well maybe I will do it on the 4th of july...not camping too many people gonna be out and i have to work friday....waxing is not my dream job lol

Barkeepers friend is what I use. Works pretty well, I get black streaks from tire "road" dust coming from the busy road out front.

I like washing and waxing, nice afterwards to step back and see the improvement.

Before a newbie reads this thread... Bar Keepers Friend should (typically) only be used on a chaulky gel coat. It contains abrasives and isn't appropriate for a new, shiny trailer. Don't take shortcuts on a new trailer. If it's kept clean and waxed, there's a very good chance you'll never need to resort to an abrasive and floor polish.

I've used a citrus spray cleaner to clean the gray streaks beneath the windows, then wax as others have said. I'm not sure what brand citrus, but you can find it near the windex in the supermarket.

For my car, truck and boat, I use Farecla Wax Top. The only problem with it is, if ya just love to wax stuff, use something else. This stuff lasts and lasts and lasts. Just make sure before you use it everything is good and clean, i.e., no bugs, tar, etc., cause once it's on, it sorta encapsulates everything. It goes on real easy and comes off the same way, no tennis elbow here.

I put it on my new truck in '08, touched it up the last time in '10, and it still beads water!

And no, I do not work for the company. Try it, see what ya think...

The best thing I have used so far is Gel Gloss exterior cleaner wax. The black streaks are removed with little effort and it leaves a nice shine. If you look for it at camping world the item # is 18003.

We were in a marine supply store yesterday, I bought a "1 step" wax, oxidation remover, etc., but while there I noticed a product labelled as "fiberglass stain remover", couldn't tell you the brand as we didn't purchase it.

Which Zep floor wax are people using? Wet Look etc?

Well John this link isn't about zep.... just so people know they recomend zep for older trailers, if your trailer is newer use marine/rv wax

John, My trailer is older but I used Zepp/Red Max because it ladts for 2 years and is brilliant. With the Casita I had to wax every 4 months and it didn"t shine as well as Red Max.

Also we are on the road 2/3rds of the year and we see a lot of road stuff yet it stans up well. People are forever asking us about our new (22) year old rig.

My Scamp is a 2004....kept under a carport, nose was exposed to sun it looks like.......... and is chalky. Bar keepers friend and Zep?
