Question Cover for my Casita Liberty Deluxe

I sure would appreciate some input from other owners. I am in the market for a cover for my Casita. I finally got it pretty and shiny, using Red Max, and I would like to keep it that way. I started checking online and it looks like there is a wide variety of trailer covers as well as a big range on costs. I am looking at the CalMark made of sunbrella fabric, but it's more than twice as expensive as other covers I have seen on the internet. This is my first trailer, so I would love to get some first hand opinions and ratings. HELP PLEASE!

First Hand Opinion here....

You're close to California Car Cover....call'em!

I bought one of their custom made covers last spring, installed it in the fall on the same day as some other r/v owners (in our complex) installed a brand new much more generic (spelled CHEAP up here in these parts) cover on their larger 5th wheel. Within a coupla weeks (over the fall/winter) the cheaper cover 'developed' countless repair patches on the cover.

Present count is up to seven patches, and there is no sign of the owners removing the cover to use the trailer.

Two weeks ago I removed the California C/C not knowing what to expect.

To my surprise the trailer was as clean and shiney as the day we covered it. IMHO: you DO get what you pay for and I know MANY on this board will state its NOT necessary to go to that extreem ($$ wise) for a cover.

...their call, but OUR trailer, painted (when we first started using it), washed twice (once after the paint job to get shop 'dust' off of it and second time, just after we moved the trailer and ourselves to our new location) and NEVER waxed, cause it never needed it.

We have a Calmark cover and love it but I have not had a cheaper one to compare it to.
I love that it is breathable and keeps my trailer shiny and all the yuckies off it and that clean up is minimal in the spring, They dry really quickly and the door to go in and out works great.

Elite motor online on Ebay sells covers for Casitas,Scamps and Escapes and most other f/g trailers. Check them out, custom sized to fit with hemmed edges, fleece inside and water resistant outside, I had one on my EggCamper, less than $150 delivered.
Here is a link for an Escape cover, but you can go to their other ones:

When it comes to covers (any brand), just remember... your trailer must be SCRUPTIOUSLY clean (did I spell that right?) before you put the cover on. Otherwise, all the grit on the trailer becomes embedded in the 'fleece' and will rub against the gelcoat in the future.

Just a warning...

Hello Donna D. ... A good reminder , we will be getting a cover with our new Escape and hadn't actually given that any thought . We've always used tarps in the past - but there too it is best to have it clean before covering . Wherever I see you little beacon ( that cute pic ) there is a friendly note and good advise !

I certainly can't speak for others that have used 'covers' successfully. But, I live in an area where we get sustained winds from November to March... the Columbia River Gorge.. where we have Wind Farms to generate electricity. And, my background with covers comes from folks that spend THOUSANDS on paint jobs for their rides. I know that none of them allow covers to touch their vehicles until that ride is clean. They don't use them outside... the vehicle is only parked inside and the covers are used for dust. But, honestly... when you think about it... everything makes sense. Grit gets embedded in the cover, a bit of wind... and now you've got some sandpaper action going on. YMMV

Thanks everyone for your input and advice. I'm still not completely sure what brand cover we will end up purchasing, but we'll probably decide in a week or so. Also appreciate the reminder that our egg should be clean before we cover it!

Thank you again!

I have used an ADCO cover of Sunbrella on my 2005 Casita since it was new. It was guaranteed for 5 years and lasted 7 years. It just ripped and I replaced it with the same brand. They are not cheap but they do protect the fiberglass. I have been happy with mine.

I have been thinking about getting a cover as well, am glad to know that in advance. Brilliant tip, thank you!
