In the January 2010 issue of STREET RODDER magazine is a great article that will take away a lot of the fear and aprehension about tackling this job

Often these types of magazines will post to the web articles right out of the magazine. Is this the same article? How To Repair Fiberglass - Fiberglass Repair - Tech - Street Rodder Magazine

And you can count on a fourth out of Ontario. My little '65 Pickup hauls the trailer great the last two times we were out this summer.

Unhappy

I read the whole article through. I think I'll let the repair to the experts. It doesn't sound like DIY is feasible, leastwise not for me, ol' fumblefingers...

Thanks for the timely info, Mark, and for the link, Donna. I have a hole I need to fill. Any instructions are helpful!

Thanks Mark,

Now does anybody know what that neat little roller is called and where to get one?

They don't really have a special name that I know of... just "fiberglass roller." You can get them in a number of different sizes. They're used to help get the air out of the layup.

I have heard them called "bubble busters," but that seems like more of a slang name.

A photo for those who aren't interested enough to click, but are curious what we're talking about:

Here are a couple of links:

Scroll down to "rollers, brushes, and trays" in this one:

I found this great set of videos at the library and have seen them on ebay as DVD's.

My method works too. If I see a crack that needs repairing I say "Sweetheart, did you see that cracked fiberglass on the _____ area of the TrailMite?" And miraculously, after the following weekend, the crack has disappeared."

I have to thank the OP for starting this thread. The discussion got me to surfing the web and to my surprise I found a supplier in Southern Ontario that even does custom colour matching. They have all the tools and supplies someone would need for FG repairs. Located in Oshawa.

Here's a link on youtube I found that I might have to try, the trick being getting my ensolite peeled back to the spot and sticking it back on again afterward.
