Dehumidifier?

Anyone try something like this?

Ideally I'd love something I could leave running on solar when the trailer is in storage (draining into the sink.) But day to day use while full timing with hookups would probably be the primary use. Showering daily and just being in BC wetness are my concern. I will not abide must and mold!!!!

Can you tell me more about those units? They look 110, the ones I'm looking at apparently have an external power supply and actually run on 12V DC, so with a little wiring could plug into a cig lighter.

No worries on that hatch, I have a few ugly, but I think very workable plastic vents for that install for now. The cutout for those is smaller than ideal, so that means I can swap to a better vent/hatch later on. If you find it cool, might work for me. If not I'll make do with what I have or have one custom made.

Both of those are 110v, one is 100 watts, other is 50 watts. Like leaving a light bulb on, may keep it a little warmer in winter while in storage.

Gotcha. Think I'm going to try one of the peltier models. Looks like only the mid sized one is 12V the small is 9V, but I could surely find a simple step down DC to DC converter for the smaller one.

Thinking of using the larger 12v model with one of these:

I figure I can rig it to drain into the sink drain.

I assume you know about a product called Damp-Rid. This is a passive system whereby the product draws out the water in the air and deposits it into a cup that you manually toss. You can use the product over and over. We have not used ours as yet but will have it with us when we go to BC soon. I wonder about the fire hazard of using the plug-in unit.

Gun safe dehumidifiers may be a resource. There are passive "pellet" solutions that allow you to re-dry in your oven and use over and over. Fireproof gun safes always have a moisture problem, as do most any fireproof safe. The filler material is designed to "sweat" moisture in order to cool the safe in a fire. Filler does this a little even without the fire.
