Does your Trillium weep?
Escape trailers come with "pontoons" to collect water should there be a leak and weep holes to evacuate that water. I notice my "new" Trillium also has pontoons but there are no weep holes. Are there weep holes on the original Trilliums? Raz

My 1973 1300 has weep holes, but the 4500 does not. Personally I think they are a good idea. I will be adding them to the 4500's when I get the proper drain fittings. I wonder why they stopped using them?

Hi Dave. Mine was made by mistake. That is, they made lots of mistakes when they made it. Who knows, the other new ones may have them. Where are they located, and what size are holes? Also, fittings? Thanks, Raz

They are a few inches ahead of and behind the wheel wells. They are about 1/2" in diameter. When I get home I will try to take pictures.

I have a 75 Trilllium and yes there are drain holes, I added a couple more just to be safe. They are about 3/8 in diameter. Any larger and they may require a bug and rodent guard.

Pictures
It looks like the curb side front of the wheel well, (under the door) doesn't have a drain.

Thanks for taking the time. Looks like each side of the wheel well has one. The last picture seems to show a fitting? While you don't hear much about floor issues with Trilliums, moisture could collect in there and there is no way to know it's there, especially in the door area. So why they would leave that one out is mystery. Then again the holes could also let water in. Perhaps thats why your 4500 doesn't have them. Thanks again, Raz

On my 1977 4500 water collected in all the low spots until I drilled outlet holes. After that no problems.

Two questions. How much water came out when you drilled? Was the water due to condensation or did you find a leak? Raz

I live in Las Vegas so it is really dry 95% of the time, however we do sometimes have some humidity in July and August. Some how, some way, I would go out to the rig and there would be water. Drove me crazy until I drilled holes.

You lost me with the "pontoons" reference... since I'm pretty sure they're not for flotation, what exactly is their purpose????

Run your hand down from the lower side of your Trillium underneath until you hit the frame and you will notice that you are following the lower half of a tube. That's the pontoon, a description coined by the folks who make the Escape. Apparently it's a trough intended to catch water that gets inside, diverting it away from the plywood floor. Raz

Thanks, Raz...as soon as the monsoon stops I'm going outside to look at this.
I put drain holes in all four corners of my Trillium, but only because I like to hose the old girl out now and then. I thought that any excess water drained out through the pigtail-in line since I've seen it do so, but now I'm wondering if any might collect in the area you describe.

The fitting is a piece of PVC pipe, glued in. The sink drains out here. Since there are no other fittings on the trailer except city water in, and the fill port for the drinking water tank, I can only assume that this is factory. I will be replacing this with grey water fitting on the side.

Built back in the good old days when gray water was free to roam where it wished. Raz
