Thanks for that useful link. And note it says "the maximum pressure is not the pressure you should inflate your tires to". And it doesn't add "except for ST tires", as some folks seem to think.

That's true Walt, but there isn't room on the sidewall to put the additional information.

I found this and several other links that provide the same explanation regarding ST tire pressure:

Assuming no significant modifications to the suspension, and loading the trailer within it's design limits, this information should apply.

"The speed rating is a measurement of the speed at which the tire is designed to run for extended periods."


I tried to tell the officer that my tire manufacturer said that my "V" rated tires were "designed" to run 149mph and I figured it was unsafe to deviate from the design parameters! He wasn't buying it! He said that that was only for extended periods!
