As with camp chairs, watch out for steps with just "peg" legs that will sink into non-paved camp sites when you put weight on them.

Ray:

Here is a photo of the bottom of one of the legs of the step we have -- each of four feet has a diameter of about 1 1/2 inches. Legs are aluminum, feet are hard rubber. We have had no problem with them sinking into the ground.

RV Step Platform Step Stools

Check out this link to The Safety Step Company. www.safetystep.net . They offer a full line of step stools for the RV users. All of their items are "anti-tip". Most local RV stores carry their line. The Safety Step web site lists some of the RV dealors that carry these. My personal favorite is the one in granite color - really classy looking. A note - be careful of the plastic steps. They slip out from under you easy and can fracture in cold weather. I would also only pick a step with a platform size of 15 X 19 or larger.

This step has worked well for our needs. Stored upside down holding the chocks when not in use. Very strong and light.

We have the same Fiamma step as Leehman. What could be sexier than a step made in Italy? I tried to get my wife to do a video, but she said "nessun grazie".

Ha! I like the Italy thing! But I could see my wife now try to step on that with her heels. Now that would make for an interesting evening...ha! By the way - we learned that the Stromberg step at Camping World is an asian knock off of the Safety Steps carried by the RV Dealors. I try to buy american if I can (getting tougher these days). The one I bought will actually adjust in height - that lets me level up an unlevel lot by just adjusting 2 legs. Check out this video! YouTube - RV Doctor looks at RV Safety Step
