Extra Trailer entrance door step

Tried to search for the appropriate thread to include this in, but couldn't find it, so here goes.

On one of these trailer boards, someone was looking for an extra step to make up for a hi-lift axle, etc. Here are two possible solutions:

www dot goldviolin dot com carries them both.

1) Item 91731 is a 17" x 14" plastic step in three parts, one 2" thick and two 1" thick pieces. Using 1, 2 or 3 parts get you a 2" thick, 3" thick or 4" thick step.

2) Item 92299 or Item 92644 provides a 27" x 17" step, adjustable up to 3.5" thick, or up to 4.5" thick.

The site sells products for independent living.....I have no idea why they sent their catalog to us.....must have been a mistake ;-).

Step Stool

Mike

We needed a step to allow us to get into our little trailer and bought this one:

New Step | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

It works very well, makes getting in and out of the trailer much easier.

Couldn't find one 'trick' enough for our liking so we had a polished diamond plate box made up for ourselves. The 'step' doubles (when inverted) as a catch all for things (stabilizers, etc) first needed in trailer set up when we get nestled in, LOL!!!!

oooh I like that step Doug! Hummm (wheels turning here). I've heard folks comment on liking a step used for step arobics... typically find them at Goodwill and the like for few $$. Very stable and has adjustable height... like this one: The Step F1004 - Workout System - Core Training#

I saw this one in trailer matching colours and a non-slip surface.

Wow, Doug, I like your idea, too - of inverting the step to use as a box for wheel chock, etc. storage. Thanks!

We use the same step as Brian and purchased ours at Camping World:
Stromberg Carlson Products Inc - Aluminum Folding Step - RV Steps - Camping World
They are expensive, but are sometimes available at a reduced price. They are slip resistant and absolutely will not tip over.

Vickie:

I bought mine online from PPL. They seem to have warehouses around the country. Delivery was pretty fast (within a few days). They occasionally have sales. I suggest you compare prices.

As with camp chairs, watch out for steps with just "peg" legs that will sink into non-paved camp sites when you put weight on them.

Ray:

Here is a photo of the bottom of one of the legs of the step we have -- each of four feet has a diameter of about 1 1/2 inches. Legs are aluminum, feet are hard rubber. We have had no problem with them sinking into the ground.

RV Step Platform Step Stools

Check out this link to The Safety Step Company. www.safetystep.net . They offer a full line of step stools for the RV users. All of their items are "anti-tip". Most local RV stores carry their line. The Safety Step web site lists some of the RV dealors that carry these. My personal favorite is the one in granite color - really classy looking. A note - be careful of the plastic steps. They slip out from under you easy and can fracture in cold weather. I would also only pick a step with a platform size of 15 X 19 or larger.

This step has worked well for our needs. Stored upside down holding the chocks when not in use. Very strong and light.

We have the same Fiamma step as Leehman. What could be sexier than a step made in Italy? I tried to get my wife to do a video, but she said "nessun grazie".

Ha! I like the Italy thing! But I could see my wife now try to step on that with her heels. Now that would make for an interesting evening...ha! By the way - we learned that the Stromberg step at Camping World is an asian knock off of the Safety Steps carried by the RV Dealors. I try to buy american if I can (getting tougher these days). The one I bought will actually adjust in height - that lets me level up an unlevel lot by just adjusting 2 legs. Check out this video!
