Can anyone tell me the difference ( other than 2" shorter) between the swamp cooler and fantastic fan? What does a swamp cooler do anyway? Is one better than the other? We have a swamp cooler now, but don't know if it works. Thanks!

Swamp coolers are fine if you live in a dry climate. They are useless in a real swamp.

Swamp Cooler Description

A Fantastic Fan is a fan. It sucks out hot air and circulates air inside your trailer.

A swamp cooler would not suit your area.

I can attest to the efficiency of a Fantastic fan. They move air quickly, and at low power consumption, in mass quantities LOL!

They really are great for average situations. Probably not Mojave, but I have found it suitable for most situations.

I pulled out the OEM swamp cooler from my UHaul. sold it for $60 on eBay, bought a FanTastic fan - better performance in all climates, more headroom, much quieter than the stovetop exhaust. Good deal all around.

The "swamp" cooler uses a flow of DRY air passing through recirculating water through a mat. The water evaporates to cool the air which then enters the cabin. The system works great in the desert (we lived in Reno Nev. and the summer humidities were generally less than 20%). We presently live is SE North Carolina and the system would be less than worthless with our typical summer humidity at 90% or so.

If you only camp in dry climates it would be worth considering.

Who has a swamp cooler that's small enough to use with "eggs." If you could post some pictures I would really appreciate it. Also, how's the power consumption?

The swamp cooler in my garage works great until the outside temperature and humidity hits about 105 degree and/or 25%.

Thanks in advance.

I had one of THESE in my 13. It fit just about anywhere.

I never ran it inverted, so I can't tell you about consumption, but it can't be the great. It's just a fan that draws any current.

Try eBay. Mine was hardly used at 40 bones as I recall.

Someone on eBay has several new ones in the box @ 34 each.

When I bought my Fiber Stream it had a Coleman RV Evaporative cooler.

When I first saw it, I thought it was an Air Conditioner. It had too many water issues for me, and I replaced it with a Fantastic-Fan.

These hoses are how you added water. One is a supply, and one is an overflow drain. You had to connect the supply hose to a garden hose, and fill the roof-top tank until it ran out of the overflow. Then you connected the two hoses together and left them dangling from the side of the trailer. The cooler worked until all of the tank's water evaporated, then you had to refill it.

It was highly prone to leaking and was very messy.
