This thread is a good example of why it is so difficult to get anything done on FGRV! I was looking for screen doors, ran into this thread and have been so intrigued, I read all the posts.
My experiance with water:
When on the road, we buy our drinking water from Safeway or other food stores. Only a buck a gallon which lasts several days.
The water at rv parks we connect to our sink or not depending on our time to be spent there and only use it for dishes. We heat the water to near boiling, pour part into the sink with detergent and use the balance for rinsing. This is all potable water BTW. If we do not hook up, we can obtain water with an empty water jug for washing dishes.
When
dry camping for a week, we got a 6 gallon water cooler, placed some ice blocks in it and then filled with water from home.
We haven't really used the 12 gallon fresh water tank on the
Trillium. Saw no need to. All that is in there is pink antifreeze!!
The comment on the misuse of public spigots got me to thinking, a plastic wide mouth jar like from peanut butter containing water and bleach could be used to dip the spigot into before hooking up.
We use a short piece of hose intended for filters to connect to the
Trillium then connect our 25' hose to that. We always use a water pressure regulator since an incident at Tiadnapam last year.
Always use two people when handling your water hose so an end does not
fall on the ground, then screw the two ends together when traveling to prevent any foreign matter from entering the hose. Use paper towels to wipe them off when packing up.
