fresh water tank drain valve?

I can't tell if my fresh water tank is original and the manual implies there is a drain however I can't find it. There is a drain tube sticking out of the bottom of the trailer at the approximalte point a drain would be. Can anyone tell by looking at my photo? or know how to get the water out without using the manual pump on the sink. I'm not sure this is rotated the right way. sorry.

It looks like the original installation.
Remove the curved peice of plywood and you will see the drain.
Its very inconvenient.
Mine is set up with a permanent bed in the rear so I put an elbow on the drain fiting and have the valve under the trailer now.
If your sitting as low as I did you may scrape it off.
I gutted mine because the fabric wall material was hanging down all over.
The inside is now finished with Scamp rat fur.
It's all back together so I'll be happy to answer any questions I can.

Thanks John, I have my project for tomorrow Here's hoping there is really a drain that will make it so much easier. The hand pump is very inefficient and there is a leak at the top somewhere that I still have to research. Did you change your pump or did your's come with an electric pump?

I added an electric pump and replaced the hand pump with a kitchen faucet.
One side is for the pump and the other side is for city water.

The drain was right there under the plywood I didn't move yesterday. Thanks so much it's draining now.

I would love details of your change to electric pump.. how hard is it and where do you tie in wiring wise. I think it was Donna or someone else who had a picture of a bar faucet they used in their trailer. I bigger faucet would be much more usable.

Kathy, there are a number of folks that have changed the faucet to a hi-rise. In some cases, all that's needed is to change the spout. I changed the entire faucet because I wanted paddle handles instead of grips. Check your local big box store. All you need to know is if it's 4" centers or....

And trust me, if you change the entire faucet it is a LOT easier to do if you remove the sink to do it!

I can understand taking the sink out since there is absolutely no room to work under there unless your built like a monkey with really long skinny arms. Sadly I'm not. Visibility under there is also an issue. So what holds the sink in?? other than the drain and some caulking?

Kathy, in my Scamp the sink has 4-6 bolts welded to the lip. There are matching holes in the counter top and underneath I could feel bolts and fender washers. It wasn't hard at all to get out and I wish I would have done it before I tried (and got bruised up) changing the faucet!

I'd say, get a flashlight and check it out.

We once had a 2006 Summit travel trailer that came from the factory with a fresh water tank with no drain at all. Luckily (?) the tank developed an unrepairable crack. Since the trailer was still under warranty, a new tank was obtained from the factory. It also had no drain valve. I made sure the dealer installed a drain valve before installing the tank.

I won't have my trailer back from the axel shop until next wednesday. I'll take pics then to show you the set up.
I had pics of the rehab but seem to have deleted them somehow.
I do have a pic of the faucet.

One of these days I may hook up the hand pump.

I think the sink and faucet were installed before the counter top was installed.
I gave up trying to bolt the sink down.
It's now held securely in place with a bead of silicone.

Cool sink faucet. What is the other little faucet to the right side and what are the buttons on the front of the sink? Your upholstery matches mine but I can't see what kind of fur you have on your walls

Luckily mine has the drain but I won't be using it until I get the feeding tube for the tank cleaned out it is so gross it looks like it's growing things in there. So having a less than adequate pump is a good thing ... it will keep me from getting sick. and give me a chance to look at other options.

Right you are, at least 4 and the last one is sort of in the cabinet for the furnace it's going to be a fun one. They didn't make that little divider go all the way to the top in the back. I'm having trouble adapting tothe idea that nothing is plumb or square in an egg shape

I just got home with my Bigfoot with a new axle about an hour ago.
Here are the water tank and pump pics.
Tomorrow I will put an elbow on the drain nipple coming through the bottom of the trailer and add a valve.

The large one is a 12v outlet and the tiny one is a switch that supplys power to the water pump.

The little faucet is the original hand pump.

The wall covering is called ratfur which is the wall covering in Scamps.

Congrats on getting your new axle done. How much ground clearance did you end up with under the back skids? I would be afraid to put a valve under mine it could get knocked off if I hit a bump.

The pictures do help, which wires did you splice into or did you have to run new ones. I can't quite tell, and which model of pump did you end up getting.

I just ran a new wire to the battery and fused it at the battery.
The pump is a $42.00 Chinese 1.5 gpm demand pump I bought on ebay.
I bought the same pump a few years ago,put it in a 13' Scamp I gave my son and it's still going strong.

Wow, that's great. I think a new axle is in my Lil trailers future. Not this year but soon.
