Pete , More by luck than judgment, my vehicle and trailer are so perfect together, and I think as I will not be pulling in really bad weather ,I will be fine just as you say .

I agree with Pete that a weight distribution hitch (WDH) might be useful.

The question arises: what is the tow rating on your Sable and what is the maximum hitch weight?

If you're overloaded, a WDH won't cure that. I'm sure you checked before towing, but it's worth asking.
