Has anyone out there used or ownes a 12 vdc cooler from Igloo. Thinking of getting one and was wondering if it is worth the price and if they worked or not. Or just buy ICE.

We have three, small, medium and large. We use them quite often and think they work well. They come in handy for keeping road sodas cool inside the truck and extra storage for the trailer. I installed a 12V plug under the rear of the trailer (inside a 1 inch PVC pipe with caps) so that we can put the large cooler outside when camping.

I used one when I had my Compact Junior trailer. The owners manual states that they only cool to 40 degrees lower than the ambient temperature around it. I would carry mine in my air-conditioned tow vehicle, plugged into a cigarrette lighter outlet, while travelling. When camped for the night, I'd move it inside the trailer and use an ac adapter (optional extra) to plug it into a 110 volt outlet.

I once ran it on the trailer's battery overnight. The battery read 12.4 volts at 10:00 PM and 8.0 volts at 6:00 AM!

yep, they'll drain a battery. We only run ours when the tow vehicle is running or when we have shore power.

I've got one I use in my semi truck, it'll drain the bank of 3 group 31's in about 30 hours, and that's a lot more capacity than most eggs have.
