Indoor/Outdoor fabric for cushions?

Well, it looks like we might be replacing the cushions (foam and fabric) in the Boler as one of the first projects. We have already bought fabric for curtains, so I am looking for something that will complement those and the lovely orangey interior. A solid color for most of the cushions is a must, and we are looking at dark brown. I might get a lime green polka dot for the upright dinette cushions, just for an accent.

I don't want to spend a ton (so ultrasuede is out), but I found this indoor/outdoor fabric for a pretty good price. http://www.fabric.com/ProductDetail.aspx?P...67-1276d32c3da2 It says it resists mildew, which I gather is one of the concerns. Part of me would like to use something softer, but I know with a young boy and the mulchy places we like to camp, I would probably feel too tense if the trailer cushions were fancier and harder to keep clean than our couch. So maybe it would be better to go with a dark color that can just be brushed off, even if that means we sacrifice coziness.

Has anyone used indoor/outdoor polyester fabric for cushions? How did they turn out?

I have used it(not from this sight) and I liked it....maybe someone that sews more will jump in but if you find the color you like ,I would say 'go for it'

I reupholstered the inside of my previous Trillium (Orange interior, as well) with a fabic I purchased at a Fabric Store.
I asked for a heavy commercial grade fabric, and chose this, as it was used for Sofa's, is a Cotton/ Poly blend, and is washable (cold water only, hang to dry, warm iron for wrinkles).
It was a tough choice, as the orange interior is a tough match, but it turned out pretty well, I think.
I used the previous covers as a template, and voila, this is it completed.
Good Luck with the reno, it was fun to do, and was a great accomplishment when done.

I used a solid brown color fabric to reupholster my Casita cushions. It wasn't indoor outdoor, but a nice, heavy, cotton/poly upholstery grade fabric. My only concern about indoor outdoor fabric is how well they breathe if you are sleeping on them. The quality of foam you select will also affect how well the cushions will survive a young boy camper!

I think I'd order the swatch for $1.75 and make sure it's what you think it is, since the site offers very little information, and the picture doesn't either (no weight or rub count provided, that I could find.) The description says fabric suitable for drapes, slipcovers, pillows, etc.... I like seating fabric for cushions that get a lot of use. Drapery fabric may be a little thin, and a lot of work for a short life.

You may be able to find the ultrasuede (if that's what you really want), for just a little more if you look for closeout sites. Here's one, in chocolate brown, with a 30,000 rub count, for $10.98. I've not used this site, so I'd ask for a swatch here, too. Lists "medium" weight, not ounces. http://www.buyfabrics.com/p-3002-mission-chocolate.aspx

I do like the idea of the chocolate brown with a brighter print, with the orange interior, by the way. Sounds fun and lively!

widely available but not cheap. worth the price for a fabric that is waterproof, weatherproof. fade resistant.
I've use the boat exterior grade and it's great.
