Now in Italy are 07:00 a.m. and I have to go to work, hello and good evening to you.
One last question: what means RV?
Hello from Ivan.

I really like the looks of the Lander. Thank you for the photos I would like to see the inside of the smallest one sometime, if you get a chance.

RV stands for "recreational vehicle"

Recreation = something people do for fun (hiking, traveling, skiing, swimming, camping, etc.)
Vehicle = something you use for transportation (car, truck, etc.)

Actually, I have always thought of a "vehicle" as something that has its own engine (like a car or a truck) and not a trailer (that you attach to the back of a tow vehicle).

So in my thinking, what most of us have here are "Travel Trailers" and not "RV's", but ... I guess even amongst English speakers there is not always agreement

Raya

Incredible! I had to understand it alone. In Italy in the legal language: Veicolo Ricreazionale = Vehicle Recreation.
You can see the interiors at this address:
http://www.roulotteantenate.it/antenati.htm
Italy is a small country and our forum www.roulotteantenate.it includes all caravan vintage and not just those in fiberglass, but are largely Lander.
Ciao, Ivan.

That website makes me dream of European travels while towing a Lander

One thing I've noticed is that the awnings on the Landers (and maybe other European trailers?) come around and go down on the sides. Kind of like an upside-down "U" shape. I really like that, and haven't noticed it on our North American trailers. Here is a photo of what I mean:

And even on the small one!

It looks so cozy and sheltered that way. Especially with sides added

What kind of track is used that is so flexible that it can go around a corner? (the "track" being the place where you fit the fabric of the awning onto the trailer) Here I think I can see that the awning track goes all the way across the top and curves around to go down each side so that the awning can curve around too:

Here is a typical awning here in North America. It goes across the top but not down the sides (unless you add on a whole outdoor "room" to it). I don't see any reason that our awnings couldn't wrap around like yours though, if we used a flexible track.

Now that I think about it, the Tab trailers (not molded fiberglass) have an awning that wraps around, but then they were designed in Europe (Germany, I think).

What type of tent is used very well in Europe for its speed of assembly, but on a vintage caravan is just romantic.
Ciao, Ivan.

I looked into getting an awning similar to that when we were looking for one. I found some in the UK that I really liked. They sat up against the trailer directly and made an additional room. We were able to find a screenhouse though that does essentially the same thing. It raises high enough that it can wrap around our trailer, so we can open the door beneath it. We bought walls to use with it if we want privacy.

is a good solution. I have a room full stops when I drop down the long and fast to assemble support for "grab and go".
Ciao, Ivan.

Dare il benvenuto al foro. Il suo rv interessa, e bello. (grazi, freetranslation.com)

Am I seeing this correctly? the last Lander on the list has a dishwasher and clothes washer? Amazing.

Hello Sherry, thank you very much for the nice attempt at dialogue in my language. I imagine that what Google translates from me is equally horrifying. :-)
The last caravan of the list is a Lander Graziella 474 (like mine), belongs to Tassos (a greek friend who attends the Italian Forum) and is the most equipped caravan vintage books I have read.
Good lunch. He says that one is going to sleep ... is really strange.
Hello from Italy, Ivan.

La veranda iz favoloso!

I wonder if it is possible to get them here in the US (are they made in Italy)? I just love the style of those - and of the whole trailer. The veranda would be easier to ship than a whole trailer though

I will have to give it a try, at least. I'm going to be camping in some areas with plentiful mosquitoes and no-see-ums ("flying teeth") this summer, so a screen room would be extra nice.

First of all to "live" in, but second of all to provide an "air lock" entry for the camper and cut down on the number of insects that come in with me each time.

If anyone acts like there is a shipping problem, I will remind them we all inhabit the same planet

Ivan, are there particular brand names for those verandas? In other words, names of companies that make or sell them?

Thanks,

Raya

Although I am not Ivan, I take the liberty to reply ;-)
Awnings (which you call veranda's) are very common in Europe.
There are a lot of brands.
Van der Horn is is well known brand in the Netherlands:

Dorema too: http://www.dorema.co.uk/
A very well known Danish brand is Isabella: http://www.isabella.net/uk/

Thank you Lex. I'll take a look at those links.

(By the way, we do call them awnings here in North America, in case I caused confusion.)
