Looking for Information on Boler Trailers

Hello...I am new to this site and was wondering if someone could give us some details on the Boler trailer. Where could we look to see what price we should be paying for a Boler. What was the last year they made the Boler? Can we tow a Boler of any size with our 2001 Mazda MPV with a 2.5litre 6 cylinder? When and if we buy a trailer where should we take it to have it inspected. We are going to look at a 1978 17ft Boler they are asking $6300 cdn is that about right. Welcome to the forum Bev,

You've come to the right place! I am not a Boler owner but have looked at a few on Vancouver Island. I believe 1982 was the last year Boler's were made - though there were a variety of companies that built them in the USA and Canada.

Depending on the condition 6300 is pretty reasonable for a 17' Boler but because these trailers are 30+ years old they really vary in condition.

A 17' foot boler might be pushing it for the Mazda MPV. Your best bet is to look at the towing capacity of your Van. I am guessing (from reading comments on people with 17' casita's and escapes) that a fully loaded Boler 17' would be over 2500lbs and maybe closer to 3000lbs.

Hello...!! Welcome, I to have a 01 Mpv and tow a 13ft we do not have the factory to package , the max vehicle tow limits are 2000 lbs as per the manual suggests and 3000 lbs with a factory tow package. Our trailer loaded is close to that, including the passengers in the vehicle ( kids,dog.. oh and beer!)
which I believe is included in the max tow weight. I 'm not to sure on the 17ft weight but I know but its always best to stay within safe limits.

Hi: All... 1987/1988 were the last years that trailers were mfg'd. under the Boler name, tho by then the numbers had dwindled!!! Scamp still makes the Boler clone to this day and can be ordered now.

Check out the home page listing, there are (currently) 52 different brands listed. I'd guess the greatest number are Boler clones... or darn close to it. Some of those brand name link to the brand album where you can view pictures of a particular brand. I'd suggest you educate yourself. For instance, you certainly wouldn't want to pass up a great buy on an Eco, Gypsy, El Macho or Land and Sea ... because you didn't know what it was....

For that price I would expect a trailer in good condition that I could use without much fixing up. Look at the for sale adds section to see what people are asking. Also print out the trailer check list before you go to look at one. That 17 footer will be an awfull lot to tow with your present vehicle. Try to find out it's weight if possible.
Another price check might be "Craigs List".

I (though also not a Boler owner) agree with all the remarks made thus far. Towing that large (heavy) of any trailer wouldn't be near so important if you lived on the flat prairie lands, where hill climbing and descending is NOT that much of an issue!
WORKING trailer brakes would be a MUST as well as a proper 'trailer tow package' on the tow vehicle, including an equalizer type hitch.
I know Reace (from Escape Trailer) used a similar truck to tow HIS 17ft Escape trailer, but thats NOT a 17ft Boler!!! PLEASE be very cautious as to what and HOW you tow, as your lives and the lives of people around you are at stake!!! Safety First.

I owned a 17ft Boler. I would not pull this unit without at least a tow rating of 3500lbs and proper tow setup. My unit when i had it was slightly more tan 3000lbs when loaded. I beleive in having extra tow rating. I would suggest to have at least 1000 lbs extra tow rating.
