new 1980 Trillium 4500 - happy and sad

Well, I am excited, and a bit sad. Today we sold our 74 Boler to a deserving couple who are planning a 3 month trip down the west coast starting in December. My wife and I are sad to see the little guy go, as we put a lot of time and effort (and money!) into it. We didn’t get back what we put in, but we are happy that it has gone to a good home.

On the other hand, the Boler sale almost recoups the money we spent last week to acquire a 1980 Trillium 4500 in fairly good condition, and we will make it our own in time. The experience renovating the Boler will come in handy as we work on the new trailer. I already have sought the advice of the FGRV forums to fix the furnace, and I plan to start discovering what is going on electrically tomorrow.
After a few years with the Boler, we wanted a trailer that had two differences. I wanted a slightly bigger bed not so close to the furnace. Donna wanted a front dinette, since we almost always keep the rear bed set up. This Trillium has the exact floor plan that we wanted, so we are both happy with it. We won’t be able to actually camp in it until next spring, but by then it should have the relatively minor fixing and remodelling that we want.
Lots of fun. I will post pictures as we go along, but I am changing my profile picture now to reflect the new trailer.
Later,
Rick G in Edmonton

Way to go!
We also went from a boler to a Trillium 4500. But we did it for the dogs.

Congrats! Last year I gave away my partially restored 1986 Scamp to a couple and their young child who travel the country full-time as folk artists. I hate to say that I regretted that decision (they use it just about every week & it has made their lives a lot better), but the day after it pulled away, I started looking for another one! As sad as I was to see it go, I am so in love with my new-to-me 1982 Scamp that I am sure that it was meant to be!
