Trailer: 1980 Merry Miler

Hi All - I have recently acquired a 1980 Merry Miler 14' (tongue to bumper) fiberglass camper. I have searched all over for info on this unit (including HERE) and I have been unable to find anything. Any direction or help would be greatly appreciated.
All in all, this little camper is in good shape. Obviously it has several little issues (old wiring-frame surface rust-and just plain dirty) I cleaned and piddled with it for a week and then I took it out for the long weekend just the way it was & it was great.
I pulled it with an '06 Jeep Wrangler (probably will use the truck from now on) (Jeep pulled and STOPPED it fine when it was empty but when it was all loaded up it was a different story)
Originally was just my son (6yrs) and myself, but the wife and daughter (8mos) came up and spent 2 nights with us (needless to say it was a little crowded although not too bad with 4 of us in the one bed)

Awesome Trailer!
Judging by the location of the door and windows, I'm guessing that the floorplan would be similar to the Hunter-Compact-Campster type of trailer. Am I close?

Being new to these small campers, I can't answer that.
Thru door on left is sink-stove-pantry - bench seat & top bunk
on right is bathroom-closet - bench seat & top bunk
The 2 benches actually go together at front to make a "U" shape around the table.
I will get some pics of inside in the next couple of days

Well Check that out! Toooooo Cute! How fun! I am sure Donna or whomever keeps the brand info up and current will like to get info and pics from you to add to the great stock pile of info available. Though I am with you, I have never seen that brand name. But I think Frederick may be right, it will be interesting to see if anyone has seen this actual brand name before.
Congrats Chris on the great find! Enjoy!

I thought Merry Miler was a conversion van, from the late '70s or early '80s. Interesting find, Chris. Thanks for sharing your pics.

Very nice!
Not a Compact Jr/Campster/etc clone though. The molds of this Merry Miler are completely different. Also it has a built-in skull ridge instead of a popup for head clearance. The ridge is much less pronounced than the Havasu. The windows are much larger than on my Compact Jr.
I see it has no vents for a propane refrigerator, so it must be either an ice box or electric.
Way cool trailer!

It did have a gas/electric fridge under the stove, but it has been removed and replaced with a gas heater - not sure about a vent for it

Where was it made? I see some tags on it "American RV" any useful information on them?
BTW many RVers paint their frames black with the idea that they then absorb the heat of the sun better, dry out faster, and rust less.
Looks like a cute rig.
Layout like a Little Joe.

I never thought of that. I paint my frame black just because .... that is the way it was, and it matches the window trim.

Merry Miler was in Seagoville,TX just outside of Dallas - I even found an old phone # (its for a lawn care service now) ------ American RV is where it was sold new (I assume) - I have not researched them yet
--- I found paperwork showing where the previous owner purchased the unit in 1982 in Knoxville,TN (Thats when the Worlds Fair was here)(Price listed was $7995.00)

thats a great looking rig!
Looking forward to the interior shots. I bet it's full hieght from front to rear? That would make it feel much bigger than the Compacts etc.

Cool rig, Chris. Congratulation! Enjoy it.
The Merry Miler looks somewhat like the Compacts, etc. Layout you describe is similar to my Compact II, as is rear door.
Have fun with it!

I see you live in East Tennessee. Does that mean you are not coming to the Washington State nog next week?
Like others have said, "Just when you thought you heard of them all..."
Looks like a really nice rig. Just a little touch up in the paint department.

Still looking to see if anybody has any info on the history of these campers or if any one has one or has ever even seen one.
Just looking for anything new.

Thanks for the info
It was another dead end though.
It appears that American International acquired Merry Miler in 1982- or they changed names and moved to Florida.
Oh well - I guess I own the only one in existance - That makes it a collectors dream and worth a fortune -
Thats my story and I'm sticking to it .
