Ok, a little input on fiberglass please

I'm getting close to reattaching the shell to the trailer and beginning my fiberglass connection (applying the fiberglass to the wood). If I have to clean up the fiberglass prior to attaching new fiberglass and resin, what is used or what should I use. Lastly would you advise sanding the fiberglass a little before attaching new fiberglass material and resin. Next to last thing again, should I sand the wood where the fiberglass is going to be attached?

Sand, Sand and Sand for at least this many reasons

1. The resin will get more surface area and tooth to stick to on a rough surface.
2. There is a wax residue left behind in the molding process. Lots of sanding will assure that it is all removed
3. Sanding the wood will give you a fresh, clean & rough, surface to bond against.

This is the way I would do it.
Clean the fiberglass with Aceatone, sand the fiberglass with the roughest stuff you got and then clean with aceatone again. As for the wood, bonding to the wood can be very hard you need the wood sanded rough and clean and it is very important the the wood be dry not just dry to the touch. some areas of the country with high humidity can be a real problem. pick a day when the air is dry and heat up the wood with a heat gun to force dry the moisture out of the wood for the best bond. Warning heat guns and aceatone and other flamables can cause combustable problems best not to get the 2 anywhere near each other. If your wood is under a fiberglass flange that you are bonding to, put a coat of catylized resin on the wood first so that will soak in and then put a coat of resin and chopped glass fibers between the fiberglass flange and the wood to seal any gaps. Once this is done then lay your resin impreginated fabric on top sealing across to the wood floor.

Epoxy sticks to wood much better than polyester. It will stick to the existing fiberglass better too.
