Orifice for a Coleman furnace

Hi Everyone. Does anyone have or know where I can get an orifice for a 1978 Coleman furnace? It's out of a 1978 Trillium Jubilee. Thanks Tim R

If not from Coleman, take it to place that repairs RVs and see if they have one that fits -- Coleman likely didn't reinvent the wheel when they built it.

You might also try a BBQ store that has a parts counter or a propane supplier

And take the old one with you for the numbers.

Thanks I'll check that out. I hope it what I'm looking for cause I'd hate to have to put a whole new furnace in it just because of that. Tim

Do you have the old orifice? If so, you might be able to find a machine shop to make a new one for you or sleeve the old one. The hole diameter or gauge is usually stamped on parts like that.

Check the various furnace manuals available on-line through Helpful-Links for units with the same output as yours to find a likely diameter for the hole.

Your propane supplier can help you, if you know the type of gas and the btus needed there are charts that will tell you the correct orifice size...Propane suppliers with service depts have the charts as will as the needed orifice styles...You did not say if you need the pilot or burner orifice...or the model number of your furnace.

I can send the charts if there are none in your area.

This is a simple chart, based on sea level calculations, higher altitude require smaller sizes and minor adjustments in air input... the chart should be stable to 7500 feet.

Tim,

Pilot orifices are pretty much standard...they are like thimbles hidden under the pilot burner "the structure you see the flame come out of it with the flame deflector built into it" the orifice is up inside this outer burner deflector structure and is a thimble like structure with the very very tiny hole in it...to access the actual pilot orifice you must loosen the nut beneath the burner and the pilot orifice will pop out backwards once its freed...Also concerning this advice, I must state there are different styles of pilot orifices, the second most popular does not pop out from underneath but actually screws out and is a little flattened at the top. These two are 99% of the pilots out there so it will be one of these two and is the best guess. A Pic will help. I have catalogs of different pilots.
