O.K., Well, the cracked fiberglass rear skirt has been repaired. It had gotten caught on something, by the previous owner, and pulled the rear wall away from the floor and broke the wall in three places. Had to remove the skirt trim and re-glass inside and undernreath, outside.

The carpet all came out and new vinyl flooring went in, cabinets too. Nice! All the scuff marks were taken off the dinette seating and other fiberglass, came off best with GS-29 Scratch Remover, of all things. Bought that crap years ago, finally found something it's good for.

The previous owner had cut a 3" x 13" hole in the countertop behind the stovetop, had to re-glass that too, done. Rewired the whole place, added a flourescent lamp above the dinette. New side marker lamps, new curtains and hangers (denim and leopard!) new upholstery, new 3-way sink and water lines, water level indicator.

I took apart everything on the tongue to move the LP tank forward and add a Deep Cycle Marine battery tray and battery. Painted the tongue and shortened the LP tank hold downs and shortened the crank handle to accomadate the LP tank. New door seal. Re-chromed the stove top. Bought new cabinet "Quake" latches, hinges and knobs, all in stainless.

Waiting on the 4' x 8' sheet of High Density Polyethylene 3/8" (cutting board) to make the new cabinet doors and table top with.

Waiting on the Norcold refurbished 323 3 way fridge. Tires to come too.

Still can't find any roof vent trim. Odd size stuff.

I may end up replacing the whole damn thing... Any suggestions on the vent?

Then we're gonna wax the crap outta it and go the Laredo! (2 hour drive, no biggie) Maiden voyage has to be small, too skeered to take it further yet :u

where does this trim go, Jeepers? Is it the awning holder or ..what?

uuuuhhh? when you finish your trailer can you come do mine? You've only been working on this, what, two weeks? and your this far along. amazing. you'll be done in another day or two. that will give you plenty of time for mine before summer. :) :) :)

The trim is actually weatherstripping around the roof vent. It's unusual in that it is small and the 'bulb' is on the side. Our roof vent is aluminum, not transluscent white. It is the seal. Without this trim we'll havta replace the whole vent. @#*! :quiet #@*!

I promised my wife a 'campout' by her birthday - Feb. 7th.

Whew!

Tonight the water tank & pump goes back in. So do the dinettes' and storage doors/panels and cushions and bunks. Also an angle trim piece on the step ups. Reminds me... gotta stop at Tractor Supply on the way back out to MooMesa Ranch... self tapping screws, water line fitting, range cubes for the Belles...

Have you tried JC Whitney? I seem to recall them carrying a pretty diverse selection of similar weatherstripping-type trim.

I had a ball fixing up the Boler too...

Getting myself all charged up to do some more work on it this spring. Currently in the process of trying to decide what to do. :)

Also I have a Winnebago parts catalog I got from my RV guy locally, that has some interesting looking bulb seals. You can get one from one of those behemoth rv bus dealers.
You may be able to "engineer" something from the above sources.

Here's another source for hundreds of weatherstrip options. Their web catalog is difficult to manuever, but any good local glass shop should have their 900-page print catalog and should be able to order for you. I use this source all the time because they carry construction type (and automotive) window/door weatherstrip, rollers, etc. that fit brands of windows that haven't been manufactured for 20 years or more. C.R.L. is pretty much the standard in the industry.

Hadn't really thought of it before, but I imagine that a lot of people refurbishing older trailers could go here. You're supposed to be in the trades to buy direct from them, but they have sold to me (and even sent me the humungous catalog) simply because I own rental apartments.

All of those who know Suz, know that I am known for my headwacker moments.

Remember I said that I had seen it? And that I couldn't remember where? :o Well, I walked out to my trailer last night and **DUH** there was the exact 3/4'' bulbous gasket you had a picture of (except it was black instead of white). It was right there around the door....the one we replaced a few months ago.

Since I have a Casita, I ordered it from them.

I always see the needles, but for the life of me, I usually miss the haystack! ;)

Service Plus Distributors (SPD) Hardware - Had something very similar, but it had been out of stock for two years, AND there was a minimum order of 200 feet.

The damn water pump was shot. So I picked up a diaphram unit at tractor supply last night and installed it, works like a charm, although a bit noisey. Water is all plumbed in! Dinettes went back in as planned. Floor looks good. I'll post some new pics at my site sometime today.

Gonna hit 80 degrees today! Great workin' weather.

I am working on '76 Scamp. It's not in as good a shape as yours. I have the about 8in.x8in. metal vent in the roof above the sink. Today, I sent a couple of hours looking for a vent online no luck yet. I thought metal would keep with the look of the trailer. I have found a 14.25x14.25 Ventline vent. This was found in a catalog from an RV Dealer about 40 miles from here. Ventline has a website. I put in a seach for Ventline rv vents. The catalog read like this: Ventadome Roof Ventilators--Features superior weather seals. Installs in 14 1/4x14 1/4 rough opening. Steel construction. Your choice of metal cover with foam pad which eliminates condensation, or translucent covers,which are tough, flexible and minimize glare. Includes ceiling garnish. The medal top roof vent is about $35.00. The translucent is about $32.00 for white and $37.00 for smoke. These were last years prices. I hope you find the trim.

:conf Don, what color is the high density polyethlene cutting board you are making your doors out of and table? Were would a person find it in a 4x8 sheet?

:lol Just to share with you our weather. You said yesterday it was going to be 80 degrees. Here in Northern Wisconsin it is -5 degrees and they say the wind chill tonight maybe -40 to a -50 degrees. Aren't you glad you're there.:sad

Same here, plus I don't really wanna cut a bigger hole in the roof, and try to seal it.

This is an experiment, sorta. I had to learn a little first. 1) I didn't want to use that cheapo composite glue and sawdust pressformed wood to replace our cabinet doors. 2) I didn't want to actually make real cabinet doors using cabinetry methods, besides, 3) I couldn't convince my hobbyist woodworker father-in-law to make them for me. 4) I was looking for something that I could just cut out, that would be durable and easy to cut, 5) that I wasn't going to have to laminate. I was sitting at our chopping block island in our kitchen mulling this over tapping on a white plastic cutting board when it hit me. This stuff, I thought, was nylon. A few Googles later I found out it is call HDPE or High Density Polyethylene, compressed grocery bags. It comes in white only and specifically is called Sandalite, because it has a pebbled finish on one side. They have it in 1/2, 3/8, 3/4 and 1 inch thicknesses. I opted for 3/8". It cuts with a carbide tipped saw or router. It is slightly translucent and smooth on the back. Folks buy this and cut it up specifically to make cutting boards, that's predominantly what it's for. I measured all the doors in the trailer, which were all shot and rotted, and plotted the dimensions into Adobe Illustrator and discovered I could get all the doors (2 below sink, 3 above sink, 2 above dinette, 1 below bunks, closet door, entire table top, and front of fridge) out of a single 4'x8' sheet. Google turned up Regal plastics in Denver, who gave me the number for Regal in San Antonio. Cool place, tons o' plastic, by the pound. The 3/8" sheet set me back $98, the 1/2" was $198 (and it was much heavier, too heavy IMO). I figure when it comes in and I cut it out and router off the corners and install the hinges & quake latches, I could concievably install lights IN the cabinets and they would glow :chin

This a.m. was 30 here. Texas weather, if ya don't like it, wait a minute, it'll change. And "yes", you can have the minus temps and snow.

As for trim, I l;ooked at all suggested sites, no go. :sad

A thought and maybe not much of one. We attended our first Scamp Camp in 2001, in MN. It was our second trip in our new-to- us '95 16 ft. Scamp. One of the guys asked if we would like our bed to be 4in. bigger. He showed us by adding a board to hold the cushions on the edge of the table, the edge would be firmer and it would protect the cushions. Our board is level with the table in the down postion, cut on an angle at the booth, and we used 2x4 scraps as legs. We drilled two holes in the top of the board and each leg, and just dropped in bolts. When we use the booth the bolts are pulled out and the board and legs are put under the toe board. Others at this Scamp Camp did it differently. I guess it depends what material you have on hand.

Nice, real nice. Your cabinets are white and the doors go well with the cabinets. My cabinets are on the yellow side and fiberglass cleaner hasn't help.

I was surfing the web, looking for answers to my vent problems. There was a foot note on one site that said smaller vents have been used on pop up campers. I saw a Elixir Travel trim 9x9 mini vent, all plastic a www.campersfactoryoutlet.com. Maybe there is a pop up place near you.

Don, the pictures of your outside door your missing the chain (about 3 ins.) that holds the cotter key that you but in the hole to lock in door at night.
