I now have a popup that I pull with my 2007 Forester. Max Tow rate of 2200 pounds. Looking to get a used 16' Scamp. I do not know if this is correct forum. I need you'lls advise on what to look out for, what kind of type faults Scamps have and when I look at one, a check list of things to ask. Can you'll help?

Thanks'

Jim

Hi EJ,

I am towing with a 2005 Subaru Forester. Mine is rated at 2500lbs and I thought the new ones were rated higher. Anyways, I don't think you could pull a 16' Scamp very well. Depending on the model I believe they are around 1800lbs+ dry so loaded they will be well over 2000lbs. The bigger issue may be the tongue weight.

I find the Forester is awesome for pulling our 13' - fully loaded at 1800lbs and with 2 adults 2 kids it handled the Rockies with no issues. If you don't have them I HIGHLY recommend getting a brake controller and a trailer with electric brakes.

Thank you for the info, helpful. Now I am looking at one in WI. How do I ask to find another Fiberglasser in the area to take a look?

Just... ask!

Start a thread asking for "Anyone willing to look in WI for me?" or somthing like that.

I bet you have volunteers in minutes, knowing this group.
