In truth I want to down size. Ever hear anyone say that? hahahahaha
I have a 17' casita that lets me stand up nice ... more than 6'0". But it is too heavy. SO I thought I'd step down 1000lbs or so (like a patriot or lil-scamp) and see about putting in a pop up. If I cant stand up anywhere it get to feeling too confining.
SO if you see anyone do their own add-on popup, gimme a yell.,
Thanks

I have a friend whose conversion van was stolen and totally wrecked about 10 years ago. He ended up purchasing the wreckage from the insurance company, bought a brand new cargo van of the same type and transferred the goodies across.
The conversion van had a
fiberglass raised top that was riveted and glued to the cutout in the van top. We drilled out the rivets and used a heat gun to soften the glue. We transferred the top to the new van drawing around the perimeter to determine the cutout, remarked to accommodate the needed flange and made the cut. I think in the end our installation turned out smoother than the factory job.
I have seen pop top vans in the junk yard that I'm sure you could retrofit into a
fiberglass trailer. Might be a fun project!
For me, I always walk with my feet touching the ground, so I have no need of additional height inside the
Scamp. But, I understand; some have a need for a little different way of doing things!
